The 90 Series Land Cruiser is an incredible value. It's refined, capable, and inexpensive to operate and service. This 2000 is also stylish.

Exterior Overview

The 90 Series Land Cruiser is an incredible value. It’s refined, capable, and inexpensive to operate and service. This 2000 is also stylish. The aesthetic is decidedly more modern with a fresh coat of Lunar Rock (6X3), which is a new OEM Toyota hue. Aside from a few light imperfections and a front bumper cover that was replaced in Japan, the body is in good shape, and this rig is set off by a set of refinished OEM three-spoke 16″ alloys, a rear ladder, aftermarket roof rack cross bars, and grippy 31″ Falken all-terrain tires. Features a durable engine that was sold here in the US, this eight-seater is turnkey and ready to rock, and is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 111k verified and documented miles on the clock, this would make for an ideal year-round family hauler that can pull double duty on some muddy trails. Safe, spacious, and reliable, this 4×4 is a top-tier Japanese Classic for those who value practicality!

Interior Overview

The cabin is nicely optioned and has loads of space for people and cargo! If you happen to live in a colder climate, a CarMate remote start system works to warm up the cabin before you leave the house. Those who might be safety-conscious love the standard dual SRS airbags and ABS brakes. The driver can find the ideal seating position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. It includes controls for the automatic climate system that blasts piping hot heat and cold air conditioning depending on your needs. Above that, a brand new Boss audio headunit that we just installed here in the shop. It looks modern, sounds great, and includes Bluetooth integration. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and an optional field monitor is prominently displayed in the center. It delivers information about the outside conditions to those in the cockpit, should you lose cell service. Power locks, power windows, and power folding mirrors all operate in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. A large panoramic moonroof lets in loads of natural light to open up the cabin and can tilt and fully retract to supplement airflow. The seats are in above-average shape and trimmed in a soft gray and blue cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is mirrored in the door cards. The middle row can slide forward to accommodate more cargo, and the rear jump seats store tightly against the pillar. The door cards and headliner are in good nick, and aside from some light carpet stains, it’s hard to complain about the cabin. Even a spare key and the owner’s manuals and a spare key are included with the purchase.

Mechanical Overview

This body-on-frame truck harkens back to a time before soft-roaders and crossovers ruled the roadways. It can withstand plenty of abuse, and the same can be said for the powerplant, the 3RZ-FE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 2.7L gasser churns to life promptly courtesy of a new 12V battery. It runs like a champ, and we plan to keep things that way. A new fuel filter and engine air filter were installed, and we also replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, and distributor cap and rotor. To keep engine temps in check, we replaced the radiator and gave the 3RZ a coolant flush, which won’t be required for another four years. One of our trained techs also replaced the valve cover gasket so that the oil level stays on full. The four-banger is linked to a stout automatic gearbox and sends power through a full-time 4WD system. The gearbox shifts like it should, and we have replaced the old fluid with new stuff. For off-road scenarios, a low range and center locking differential are on hand and work in typical Toyota fashion, and the truck is really enjoyable to pilot over tarmac. The soft suspension cushions those within the cabin from small and large potholes alike. New rear lower control arms were installed to reduce suspension play and a fresh alignment will keep the new 31″ Falken tires lasting as long as possible. Stopping distances have been shortened courtesy of new rear brake pads and the power steering light, on point and easy to articulate. These Land Cruisers are wonderful daily drivers and are more upscale than most expect. Determined and trustworthy third-row SUVs are hard to find at this price point, and we think the new American owner will really enjoy this special rig!
