Exterior Overview
The Hilux Surf is synonymous with performance, capability, reliability, and efficiency. Powered by a legendary turbo diesel engine, this 116k verified and reconditioned truck is fresh off a recent service, and is turnkey ready to rock. Set off with some refinished Bridgestone 16″ alloys, OEM rainguards, OEM spare tire swingarm, stylish rear spoiler, and a rare Ganador exhaust, the body is in good shape aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal wear and tear. Underpinned by a tenacious 4WD system with an optional center locker, this beast would make for a killer year-round daily driver, wild weekend workhorse, or optimum dedicated overlander. Interior Overview
The cabin features a simple design, a few upgrades, and some decent power options. The owner in Japan had protected the seats with seat covers, which have protected the charcoal colored upholstery against spills, stains, and rips. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. By the map lights an optional OEM field monitor displays info about the outside conditions to those within the cabin. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach for both driver and passenger. A large touchscreen Pioneer radio features decent sound quality, American FM stations, and Bluetooth hands-free integration so you can keep your hands on the wheel. Above the headunit is a simple to use automatic climate control system that supplies piping hot heat and cold A/C to the cabin. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support to find the best seating position. Rear occupants gain 4-way adjustable seatbacks, which are absent from the US 4Runner. For additional cargo space, the rear seats also split-fold and tumble forward to create a flat loading floor. Power windows, locks, mirrors, and electric rear glass all work in typical Toyota fashion, aiding your commute. Even a power rear spoiler under-mirror pops down to aid with parking in reverse. The headliner is in good shape, as are the door cards and carpets, and aside from a non-functional power folding passenger mirror and a non-functional moonroof, it’s hard to complain about the cabin. Even the owners’ manuals are included with the purchase.
Mechanical Overview
This body-on-frame truck is built like a 47 Packard. Its 4WD system is equally tough, and the turbo diesel under the bonnet has a legendary reputation. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L chugs to life courtesy of a new 12V battery. Like all of our diesels, we installed a new fuel filter and also changed out the soiled oil engine air cleaner for a new unit. The 1KZ produces heaps of low-end twist and is linked to a strong automatic gearbox. It slots into gear directly with its new shifter bushings, and shifts feel confident care of a new fluid flush. The pilot can choose to motor in 2WD or 4WD with a selectable transfer case. A low range gear and center locker make quick work of sand, mud, and snow, and the gearing is comfortable even at our higher American interstate speeds. New rear shocks smooth out the ride, making it stable and predictable. Standard ABS is on hand for some added peace of mind, and we have improved braking performance with new front brake pads and rotors. The power steering system received a full-on refresh. We rebuilt the rack and installed new rack bushings and boots as well. The inner and outer tie rods were installed to make the fresh alignment easy. The black alloy wheels are wrapped in new 31″ Falken rubber. The new tires look mean, quell road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.

CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K.
