Exterior Overview
Twenty-five years after they rolled off the assembly line, these J100 Land Cruisers are still going strong in the US. These Toyotas feature outstanding build quality, modern safety equipment, and a buttery smooth ride. Known for running over half a million miles, our American trucks were offered with only one engine, a gasoline V8. The domestic 4.7L does about everything well, except sip fuel. Alas, we have a solution to this problem, as this 2000 VX Limited is powered by one of Toyota’s legendary, powerful, and efficient turbodiesels. Finished in Pearl White (057), this five-seater is set off by OEM rainguards, a factory optional rear spoiler, and a new set of 17″ Icon alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good shape, the frame is in cherry condition, and we have just performed a fresh service on the mechanicals. Boasting a mere 96k verified and documented miles on the clock, this beast is barely broken in. Ideal as a year-round family hauling daily driver, this superb sport utility would also make for a decent dedicated overlander, or wicked weekend transporter. A Japanese Classic to its core, this lovely Landy can be yours today!

Interior Overview
The cabin is spacious, filled with premium materials, and is in decent shape overall. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment for those riding up front. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column, and power locks, mirrors, and windows are on hand to make daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. The touchscreen has some fading on the polarizer, but everything works as it should. The audio system pumps in tunes through the cabin and the auto digital climate controls are simple to access. Cold A/C and piping hot heat can be mixed through the interior, and if you prefer more natural ventilation, a large power moonroof can tilt and retract and the rear quarter glass pops outward to supplement airflow. The seats and door cards are trimmed in a soft tan cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears, and like the door cards, is in good shape, save for some driver’s bolster wear. The headliner and carpets have withstood the past quarter-century without sustaining major abuse, too. Cruise control is standard and mounted on the column behind the steering wheel. While the steering wheel has some wear, it’s been obscured by a cover for better aesthetics. We also wanted to note that the power folding function of the side mirrors no longer works, and the shift lever has seen better days. Still, the interior is impressive overall, and even the original owners’ manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase of this terrific truck.

Mechanical Overview
Built atop a ladder chassis, this Toyota is one tough cookie. The 1HD-FTE engine is also a workhorse. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.2L chugs to life immediately, courtesy of two new 12V batteries. A proper tune-up was in order, so we installed a new engine air filter and a new fuel filter. Mated to a stout automatic, the gearbox is responsive for a SUV and shifts feel reassured. Torque flows to both axles through a FullTime 4WD system, and new front axles work to get power to the ground. The selectable transfer case can be utilized for a low range, and also a center locker can be engaged. It rides like a dream and one of our trained technicians has completely refreshed the suspension. New shocks have been installed all the way around, and we replaced the rear upper and lower control arms. We didn’t stop there and while it was on the lift we rebuilt the steering rack, flushed the fluid, and installed new rack boots. To that the new 33″ Falken tires last as long as possible, we aligned the Land Cruiser and installed new inner and outer tie rods for easy adjustments. Fresh off its state inspection, this 100 series is ready to roll, and only needs a new owner!
