1999 Skyline GTT Sedan

The Skyline is one of Japan’s most iconic designs. It’s got a boosted six-cylinder engine, tactile handling, and sends power to the rear axle as a proper sports car should. If you had to critique the model, it may not be the most practical in coupe form. For those with kids, active lifestyles, and a penchant for performance, this 1999 sedan has you covered. Finished in a classic Midnight Purple (LP1), this GT-T is set off by a GT-R style front bumper and hood lip, OEM optional side skirts, and an OEM rear lip. Brand new Fortune Auto coilovers keep the new 17″ RPF1 alloys tucked snugly into the fender, and this sedan has a commanding presence on pavement.  Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good nick, and this R34 is fresh off a comprehensive service. Offered with only 116k verified and documented miles on the clock, this sedan has loads of life left in it! A blast to drive with room for five, this Japanese Classic is retail-ready to be daily driven, autocrossed, or utilized as a unique weekend cruiser.

The cabin feels modern, is in good shape, and has loads of space for five. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. A Pioneer radio upgrade sounds great and includes Bluetooth integration for hands-free use. Above, the automatic climate control unit resides, delivering piping hot heat and cold A/C through the cabin. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Nissan fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. For those passionate about performance, a factory triple gauge suite resides atop the center stack, giving useful information on engine vitals. The seats are upholstered in a durable sport mesh material. Save for some staining on the driver’s seat base and some minor bolster wear, the upholstery is in decent condition, and the same can be said for the matching material in the door cards. The headliner is tight and tidy, and the carpets are protected by a set of fitted Imperial mats. This proper sports sedan should satisfy most any enthusiast. If we were to focus on any particulars, the center console and window trim has some chipping, and there is a hole beneath the driver’s floor mat. Still, for a 90’s Nissan, the condition is impressive, and even the original owner’s manuals are on hand to assist the future purchaser of this Skyline.

Under the skin, this balanced chassis is a beauty. It features near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, which pays dividends for handling and braking. The RB25DET engine is an absolute gem too. This NEO version features variable valve timing and is fresh off an oil and filter service. It sounds great with its HKS air filter and polished Apex’i exhaust. A new 12V battery aids ignition, and a new fuel filter, air filter pod,  and set of spark plugs were replaced as part of our tune-up. To ensure the engine runs like a top, we added new coil packs and connectors, and repaired an oil leak seeping from the oil pressure sensor. The RB is mated to a factory five-speed manual gearbox. We flushed the fluid so it operates smoothly and rowing up and down the tree is a blast. No hitches or grinds occur when shifting, and torque is sent to the rear pumpkin. This nimble Nissan sails up to highway speeds, and when you need to slow down, the ABS-equipped brakes have you covered and are bolstered by new front pads. One of our trained techs has refreshed the suspension completely. New Fortune Auto coilovers have been installed at all four corners. Additionally, new front tension rods and a new rear passenger HICAS arm were swapped out. We also refreshed the power steering system. The rack was rebuilt, new boots and bushings added, and the fluid was exchanged as part of the rebuild. We dialed in an alignment with new inner and outer tie rods, and this saloon tracks straight as an arrow. Lastly, we wrapped the wheels in brand new tires. The rubber quells road noise and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
