Collectible, stylish, and a rare find in stock form, an unmolested Spec R only comes around once in a blue moon!

Exterior Overview

Patient enthusiasts were excited when the ball dropped on January 1st, 2024, as this signified the introduction of Nissan’s S15 Silvia to the US market. Freshly 25, and newly arrived, our 1999 Spec R is a real gem. Bone stock, ready to rock, and fresh off a recent service, this frisky rear drive coupe is an unmolested example with only 116k verified and documented miles on the ticker. It’s stylish too, in White Pearl (WK0), and sports a set of factory projector headlamps and OEM rainguards to enhance the aesthetic. Save for some small paint imperfections, and a noted replacement of the front left fender in Japan, this collector car is in fine shape overall and should satisfy most any Nissan nut, as the turbo six-speed drivetrain is a hoot to drive. Believe the hype, the S15 Silvia is collectible, fun to drive, and easy on the eyes too, it goes without saying this is one standout Japanese Classic!

Interior Overview

The S15’s interior stands out in a good way, and is miles better than previous generations. A factory black headliner adds a touch of class, and complements the sport mesh seats nicely. Save for a prior bolster repair, the driver’s bucket is in good shape overall, and the dash plastics have resisted the past couple of decades without succumbing to any serious wear and tear. Dual SRS airbags are also present to keep all occupants a bit safer. The S15 is also a formidable daily. It features a simple to use digital climate control system, and power windows, locks, and electric folding side mirrors to aid daily use. The A/C blows ice cold and the heat is piping hot if you trudge this coupe through the cooler months. Adjacent to the HVAC, upgraded Kenwood audio works like a charm and plays clearly throughout the cabin. The rear seats can squeeze in a couple children or pets if needed, and they can also be folded flat to maximize hatch space in the rear. The S15’s cockpit gets a ton right, and if we had to scrutinize anything it would be some minor bolster separation on the driver’s seat, and an inoperable factory boost gauge. Still, at 25 years of age it’s in impressive shape overall, and we’ve retained the factory carpet mats to class up and protect this stunning cockpit!

Mechanical Overview

The SR20DET is a defining powerplant. It’s easy to service, replacement parts and upgrades are abundant, and ours has been refreshed for the road ahead. It cranks to life, care of a new 12v battery, and is fresh off an oil and filter service, and new engine air and fuel filters to minimize any unwanted contaminants. We also installed a fresh valve cover gasket and replaced the half-moon seals for added peace of mind. With the maintenance performed this turbocharged 2.0 is a riot to drive, even in stock form, and the abundance of power is fed straight into a 6-speed manual gearbox that’s both smooth and simple in operation. A rear LSD spins both tires out back, and NISMO struts and springs aid handling significantly. To shore up the drivetrain, both caster arms were replaced up front, and we performed a fresh alignment to ensure it drives right as rain. The ABS brakes grab with authority, and the power steering is easy to maneuver too. The stock wheels are in great condition and wrapped in fresh rubber for maximum road adheasion. Collectible, stylish, and a rare find in stock form, an unmolested Spec R only comes around once in a blue moon!
