You could spend your hard earned money on an Integra Type R or the latest factory performance fad, or you could save a few bucks and get the same driving experience out of a frugal little coupe like this Corolla Levin! Sporting a revvy 4A-GE blacktop, 6 speed gearbox, and responsive FWD layout this AE111 is a true dark horse as far as Japanese sport coupes are concerned. Finished in Black Pearl (205), this Levin is set off by OEM rainguards, a factory rear spoiler, and 15" Makina Isotta alloys. Showing a few light paint imperfections from day to day use the exterior isn't too worse for the wear overall save for some spots where the clearcoat has lost gloss. Still, the drivetrain sells this peppy compact Toyota and at this price point it's hard to say no, especially when the chassis has travelled a mere 89k miles over the years. Sporty, fun, and frugal to operate, this Levin is a Japanese Classic through and through!

Much like the exterior, the interior of this two-door is fun, stylish, and well appointed for day to day driving. The seats are trimmed in a black and red patterned cloth and show well outside of some expected driver's bolster wear. The dash is in good shape too, and houses dual SRS airbags for some added peace of mind behind the wheel. The center stack assumes a cockpit like feel as all the switchgear is oriented toward the driver. This includes an easy to use automatic climate control system and an upgraded Pioneer touchscreen headunit. Both power windows work as advertised, as do the power locks and electric folding side mirrors. The rear seats can squeeze in small children or pets as needed, and the headliner and carpeting beneath have escaped the past 25 years on the road with nary a defect. Save for some wear on the touch points and a faint smoke odor from a prior life, this cabin is perfectly appointed for the modern enthusiast!

The 4A-GE is a legendary motor in its own right, but this blacktop 20v model is the real top dog. Our team installed a new 12v battery and performed an oil and filter service, but we did want to disclose some oil leaks you may take care of at your own discretion. Most notably, there's a decent seep from the oil pan gasket, and the front main seal is starting to weep too. This trusty Toyota doesn't go down without a fight however, and this 1.6 is still a rocket all the way through the powerband. Shifts through the 6 speed box are smooth and accurate and power is shot forward as you jaunt from light to light. The clutch is contaminated a bit from the oil leak and slips under hard acceleration, but otherwise grabs strong off the line. The factory superstrate suspension deliver a firm yet responsive ride, and the handling offers a lot to brag about. The brake pads could warrant a replacement soon and the tires still have plenty of tread left should you choose to daily drive this unit from day one. For the discerning enthusiast on a budget, this AE111 is the ticket!
