The Land Cruiser is a battle-tested SUV, and the 90 is one heck of a design. This 1998 is a sturdy, spacious, and refined SUV.

Exterior Overview

The Land Cruiser is a battle-tested SUV, and the 90 is one heck of a design. This 1998 is a sturdy, spacious, and refined SUV. Our TZ model is also handsome, finished in a Crystal Silver Pearl over Light Greyish Beige (K75). Adorned with an OEM optional sport bumper, multicolor fog lamps, rainguards, optional chrome door handles and mirror caps, and refinished Inter Milano Mud Bahn XR6 wheels, the paint is in good shape aside from a front bumper replacement in Japan, and some scuffs, chips, and dings associated with normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this V6-powered rig is propelled by the same engine sold domestically in the 4Runner. Fresh off a recent service, this 4×4 has logged a mere 107k verified and documented miles on the ticker. Equipped with a bunch of nice options, and a desirable third row, this eight seater checks a lot of boxes! Perfect as a unique, yet practical daily driver this Prado is just as comfortable shuttling the kids to soccer as it is traversing Moab. Capable, cool, and inexpensive to own, this off-roader is a certified Japanese Classic!

Interior Overview

The cabin is packed full of upgrades and electric equipment. Access is made easier by functional keyless entry. It’s spacious too, offering abundant head, shoulder, and legroom. The dashboard design is ergonomic, lacks any cracks or distortion, and features an OEM Field Monitor to display the outside conditions to those in the cockpit. Dual SRS airbags come standard as is ABS for those who may be safety conscious. Along the same lines, the Pioneer touchscreen includes Bluetooth hands-free tech. If you plan to daily drive this SUV, functional power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion. Digital automatic climate control is standard and doles out piping hot heat and cold A/C in equal measure. If you prefer more natural ventilation, the rear quarter glass pops outward and a large sunroof can tilt and unfurl with the press of a button. The upholstery is in good shape and was cared for overseas. Super rare, the OEM seat covers are still intact, protecting the upholstery. The cloth lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is made of a durable material. The middle row can slide forward to accommodate larger cargo and the rear seats can be stowed up against the D-pillar. The headliner and door cards are in good shape, and aside from some steering wheel wear there is little to complain about. Even the OEM maintenance booklet is included with the purchase of this rig!

Mechanical Overview

This body-on-frame brute is able to cope with a lot of abuse and the same can be said for the quad-cam V6. A new fuel filter and engine oil and filter service start this rig off on the right foot, and we also replaced the old Japanese 12v battery with a brand new American one! The 5VZ-FE is a stout engine, and one of our trained techs has refreshed it with a set of new valve cover gaskets, cam seals, and a set of new spark plugs. It pulls hard to redline and is linked to a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. It gets up to highway speeds quickly and is peppy from stoplight to stoplight. The gasser also offers better throttle response than the diesel. It slows down well, despite its hefty curb weight, and the ABS brakes benefit from new front brake hoses and a brake fluid flush. The power steering is light yet on point and we replaced the worn-out old steering rack bushings with brand new ones! The suspension insulates the cabin from the road quite nicely and the long wheelbase is ideal for high-speed stability. New front sway bar links were added before its state inspection and this truck rides like a dream. The Mud Bahn wheels are wrapped in brand new Falken rubber. Freshly aligned the new tires will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and will provide all the year-round grip that you’ll ever need! Turn key and ready to roll, this truck will not stick around for long.
