Exterior Overview
In 1996, when this HiAce rolled off the line, Toyota was on top. Everyone knew about their incredible sports cars, trucks, and SUVs, but their vans were perhaps the most special offerings. Now legal in the USA, we can now enjoy these dependable 4WD turbodiesel models year-round. Finished in a Reddish Brown (4K6) over Black, the body is adorned by some subtle OEM rainguards and a set of stylish 15″ aftermarket alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the paint in is fine shape overall. Fresh off a recent service, this eight-seater is available for purchase with a mere 139k verified and documented miles on the clock. Barely broken in, this spacious and safe ride is ideal for those with families, campers, and those looking to explore. Trusty, determined, refined, and affordable this unique Japanese Classic is a true jack of all trades.

Interior Overview
The interior is massive and in good shape. The driver and passenger sit above the engine and have a clear commanding view of the road ahead. The visibility is above average and the driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering wheel and SRS airbag for added peace of mind. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion and make daily use more enjoyable. The digital automatic climate blows cold A/C and piping hot heat. If you prefer more natural ventilation, three sunroofs can be opened, and the rear side windows pop outward for additional air flow. Road trips are made more fun with an audio soundtrack and the Eclipse audio pipes in the tunes. The gray-colored upholstery is soft to the touch and in good shape overall. They lack any major imperfections and the middle row can swivel 180 degrees to face the rear. If you want to catch a cat nap, you can also fold the seats flat into a mattress. Access to the rear is made seamless thanks to a large sliding door. If left ajar it also soft closes to avoid a battery drain. The carpet is in good shape and aside from some blemishes on the headliner and some marred interior trim it’s hard to complain about the cabin as it was clearly cared for overseas.

Mechanical Overview
The midship engine design lends itself to sportier handling than you might expect, as the drivetrain sits low in the chassis. The 1KZ-TE engine is a hoss, and is known for its reliability and resiliency. Ours is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life care of a new 12v battery. One of our trained techs refurbished the 3.0L with a new valve cover gasket and half-moon seal. A fresh coolant exchange was performed to stay on top of thermal management, too. The 1KZ is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that makes good use of its low-end grunt. It moves up to highway speeds with ease and is peppy stoplight to stoplight. The driveline was shored up with new transmission fluid and we also exchanged the front and rear differential oil. The wheel bearings were adjusted and we refreshed the suspension extensively. New rear sway bar links and link bushings were installed. The ride is soft and this van gobbles up potholes without breaking a sweat. The power steering is light and easy to articulate and the brakes feel confident. Grip is handled by four new expensive TOYO Open Country tires. The new rubber looks mean, quells road noises, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come
