Stock #6172Just in time for the end of the decade, Toyota's famed Altezza sports sedan debuted in 1998 to much acclaim. The design was attractive, fun to drive, balanced, and impressively engineered. Finished in a classic Millennium Silver Metallic (1C0), this SXE10 is set off by a factory spoiler, and factory optional front lip, rear lip, and side skirts. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the paint is in good shape and this saloon is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 45k verified and documented miles, this turn-key car is fresh as a daisy. Easy to service, affordable to own its hard to find fault with this roomy and safe five-seater. Reliable enough to be daily driven, yet reflexive enough to be a weekend track toy, this Japanese Classic is a real dandy! The cabin is in above-average condition and was cared for in Japan. When this Altezza arrived on our lot, a bunch of the interior bits were still covered in the factory's protective plastic. The Japanese owner even retained the extra keys, maintenance booklet, owner manuals, and factory mats for the next buyer to enjoy. The view of the road ahead is clear and unencumbered and the sculpted dash lacks any cracking or fading. Dual SRS airbags are mounted up front, and ABS is standard for those who may be safety conscious. The driver receives a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position and the switchgear is all close by and at hand. The automatic climate controls are initiative to use and feature large knobs and big buttons. The A/C and heat are available on demand, but if you prefer more natural ventilation, the power windows can be utilized. Other power equipment includes electric locks and power-folding side mirrors which work in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The same can be said for the OEM audio which supplements the BEAMS 3S-GE under the hood with another acoustic soundtrack. The seats are in above-average condition and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The textured fabric is durable too and is highly bolstered so the front occupants don't slosh about during spirited driving. The headliner, carpets, and door cards are in good shape and it's clear this thing was cared for in a prior life. More balanced than our Stateside IS300, this 2.0L powered car moves the engine weight further back in the chassis compared to the long and heavy 2JZ-GE spec'd in the US. The 3S whirrs to life care of a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. Revvy and lightweight, the BEAMS engine feeds power through a stout automatic gearbox and sends it to the rear axle. One of our trained techs has installed a new transmission pan seal to prevent any future drips. Acceleration is more than adequate and the Altezza sails up to highway speeds without breaking a sweat. The steering is communicative and the platform goes right where you point it. The suspension is great for daily use and doesn't beat you up in the least. The ABS brakes feel tight and tidy and this Toyota features above-average brake performance. The OEM alloys are wrapped in new all-season tires at each corner. The new rubber quiets down the ride noticeably and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
