With the end of the millennium soon approaching, Nissan was fast at work producing some incredibly sporty designs. This 1998 Skyline is a wonderful example of the R34 chassis, and this one is equipped with an additional set of doors so that you don't need to have fun alone! Powered by a zingy turbo six, this sedan is even more appealing when you discover the manual gearbox and new Fortune Auto coilovers! Finished in a menacing Black Pearl (GV1), this 25GT-T is set off by an OEM optional wing, factory side skirts, and an OEM optional rear lip, and expensive set of Work VS-KF rolling stock. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the paint is in good shape and this handsome saloon turns plenty of heads, no matter when you go! Fresh off a recent service, this ER34 is offered with a mere 66k verified and documented miles on the clock. Reliable, stylish, and a blast to drive spiritedly, this Japanese Classic is legendary.
The cockpit has held together much better than earlier generations of the platform. Also, a few new safety features became standard including dual front SRS airbags. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and the optional OEM gauge suite sits atop it and works like a charm. Below a simple-to-use automatic climate control system can dial in heat or A/C depending on what those inside the vehicle require. An upgraded Pioneer head unit modernizes the cabin, and pumps in the tunes to supplement the sweet six-cylinder turbo soundtrack emanating from under the bonnet. Thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column, the driver can find the ideal driving position and power-folding mirrors, locks, and windows work in typical Nissan fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The seats are in above average shape, and are upholstered in a gray and black two-tone cloth. They lack any major rips, stains or tears and the rear bench includes a ski pass-through. The carpets, headliner, and door cards have resisted major abuse over the years. All in all, its pretty hard to imagine this cabin dating back to the Y2k era, as it's aged quite gracefully.
As you might expect from a proper sports sedan, this front-engine, rear-drive platform is powered by a lovely turbocharged platform, the RB25DET NEO. Known for its low vibration and punchy power output, the 2.5L is fresh off an oil and filter service. It kicks over care of a new 12v battery, and a new engine air filter helps the RB to breathe freely. To keep the oil level on full, one of our trained techs replaced the valve cover gaskets and half-moon seals. To complete the engine refresh, a new fuel filter was installed and the RB runs right as rain. The NEO is linked to a manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. Originally an automatic, a brand new manual was installed in the R34 right before leaving the motherland. Even better a new NISMO clutch and flywheel were installed as well. The Skyline sails up to highway speeds quickly and rowing through the gears in an absolute blast. It stops equally impressively as the ABS brakes bite down hard when called upon. The handling is sublime thanks to brand new Fortune Auto coilovers and this platform's 50/50 weight distribution. The Nissan hunkers down in the curves and the reduced fender gap sure looks sexy. The power steering is light yet direct and a fresh alignment will keep the brand new tires wearing properly.
