Exterior Overview
The 90 Series Land Cruiser is an SUV steal. It rides like a Lexus GX, looks handsome, and is efficient and powerful thanks to its legendary intercooled turbodiesel powerplant. This 1998 is a special rig, is fresh off a recent service, and is offered with only 137k verified and documented miles on the clock. Finished in a one-off Brilliant Black, this TX model is set off by new 16″ Nomad alloys, 2″ lift, a factory bashbar, OEM multicoat fog lamps, and a rear spare tire mount. Aside from some dings, chips, and scrapes, the paint is in fine shape, and this terrific Toyota would make for a capable daily driver, fun family mobile, or cool campsite crawler. Affordable, unique, capable, and practical, all this Japanese Classic needs is a new owner.
Interior Overview
This five-seater features a spacious cabin, a number of safety features, a bevy of power equipment, and a few upgrades. The mean-looking exterior aesthetic is mirrored within the cabin, and the black leather seat covers fit perfectly. Rear occupants have tons of space and when no one is riding out back, the middle row can flip forward to accommodate loads more cargo. The driver can find the ideal seating position thanks to an adjustable steering column, and both front passengers benefit from standard dual SRS airbags. Unlike a lot of Toyotas of this era, the dashboard material isn’t susceptible to cracking, and ours is in good condition currently. A modern Kenwood touchscreen can be utilized to belt out some tunes, and the automatic climate control system below is intuitive to operate and blows cool A/C and piping hot heat. To make daily use more enjoyable, power locks, power folding mirrors, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion. The door cards are good shape, as are the carpets, headliner, and carpets. Aside from a non-operational field monitor, it’s hard to nitpick the cabin. Even the OEM security shade is included with the purchase.
Mechanical Overview
The 1KZ-TE is a capable turbodiesel engine, and this intercooled variant might be the perfect pairing for this stout body-on-frame beast! Fresh off an oil and filter service, this J95 roars to life, care of a new 12v battery, and settles into a smooth idle. We replaced the engine air filter to keep contaminants from entering your combustion chamber, and the fuel filter was exchanged as part of our baseline service on these turbodiesels. The 1K jets right up to highway speeds and cruises comfortably, whether you’re putting it around town or eating up miles on the interstate. A stout automatic gearbox puts the power to the ground, and a new output seal on the transfercase benefits the 4×4 system. FullTime 4WD works like a charm, and for real off-road practicality, a center locker and low range are at the ready. New rear Bilstein shocks benefit the suspension, and even on rougher pavement, this J95 doesn’t flinch. We rebuilt the power steering pump to keep this truck easy to maneuver, and new front brake pads bolster the ABS system. The chassis has been freshly aligned, 16″ Nomads shod in 33″ brand new Falkens completed our list of maintenance items, and this rig is turn-key and ready to go.
