Exterior Overview
***This Land Cruiser has not been reconditioned and will need additional maintenance for daily use. We are offering this vehicle at a lower price point so that it may be modified and serviced as the new owner sees fit. This vehicle must be towed/transported off our lot as it does not pass Virginia’s safety inspection.
The 100 Series Land Cruiser consistently sets the standard for luxury, capability, and off-road charisma. It’s refined where it needs to be, tremendously proficient off-road, and is backed by the same bulletproof reliability old-school Toyota trucks are known for. Our 1998 is a great example, finished in a one-off Bonobo Black, and set off by a massive 3″ lift, LED Tail Lamps, Lodiodrive wheels, fog lamps, and a Satoshi style grille. Sitting on some chunky BFG all-terrains, the aesthetic is mega, and the 88k verified and documented miles on the clock do a lot to drive the desirability of this Cruiser home. Sadly, this one has fallen victim to a bit of frame corrosion, and we’re giving the next owner a unique opportunity to get into a slick, low-mileage daily driver, campsite cruiser, or around-town hauler. Call it what you want, one thing’s for sure. This Land Cruiser is a certified Japanese Classic!
Interior Overview
This Cruiser is a body-on-frame beast, but the interior feels decidedly plush and modern. A Clarion touchscreen audio system upgrade and backup camera make it even better! Fashioned with premium leather seat covers, the upholstery coddles all occupants, and soft-touch materials were used throughout to give this Toyota a more upmarket feel. A woodgrain steering wheel classes up the cabin, and for safety-conscious occupants, dual front SRS airbags are present. The driver can tilt the steering column at will to get comfortable, and to dial in cabin temperatures, a factory touch screen head unit features controls for dual-zone climate adjustment, and hot heat is on tap. The A/C works, but will not hold a charge currently. To keep your tushy warm, seat heaters are on hand up front. The remaining interior materials are in good nick, including the rear bench, which can flip forward to expand the cargo hold. The headliner is tight and tidy, and the door cards sport cloth inserts that match the factory upholstery beneath the covers. Power windows, locks, and power folding side mirrors work like a charm, and in lieu of a moonroof, a storage unit is affixed to the roof to store the whole family’s sunglasses! You truly feel special behind the wheel of this 100 series, and the cabin was cared for in Japan.
Mechanical Overview
The 2UZ-FE under the bonnet has been pulling serious duty in our US Toyota trucks for decades now, so it’s fitting you’d find it under the hood of this Japanese Classic! Ours is fresh off an oil and filter service so you stay up to date on maintenance schedules. It cranks over with haste, thanks to a new 12v battery, and idles tip top. Bulletproof in construction, this 4.7l soars up to highway speeds with ease and power is sent right into a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. Full-time 4WD is standard on these cruisers, and the drivetrain can take this truck almost anywhere, thanks to a center locking differential and low range. To pass a state safety inspection, our team noted some age-related wear on the shocks, upper and lower control arms, and swaybar links. The steering rack could also benefit from a rebuild. This Cruiser is still a treat to drive, and for the discerning enthusiast or shadetree mechanic, this could be a fun flip or a dedicated daily driver!
