CR-V's are a dime a dozen here on stateside roads, and for good reason. Honda's best selling crossover SUV is practical, frugal to operate, and easy as pie to own and maintain. Finished in Electron Blue Pearl (B95P), and sporting a responsive 5-speed stick, our 1998 RD1 boasts 101k verified and documented miles and stands out from drab US commuters. There's a few imperfections in the paint, and we wanted to note a prior replacement of the right front fender, but overall the exterior is a heck of a lot better than most USDM examples, and the optional front deflector does a lot to add to this one's collectibility. Honda enthusiasts, families, and discerning car nuts will agree, this RD1 is one fantastic Japanese Classic SUV.

The cockpit of this CRV is a special place to be overall, and is better condition than just about any example you'd find in the states. Carbon accent trim looks great against the grey vinyl surfaces, and the durable cloth seats have resisted any unsightly wear and tear too. Dual SRS airbags are present in the event of any driving emergencies and a stowaway center console makes rear cabin access a breeze. A touch screen headunit is positioned centrally and Bluetooth is available to pump out your own tunes. The HVAC switchgear is easy to operate and cold A/C and hot heat are on standby. Additionally, power windows are all operable if you prefer some natural ventilation in your cockpit. The power locks and electric side mirrors work as advertised, and rear passengers get access to the reclining seats we never saw here in the states. The headliner, carpet, and door cards are all in good nick, and we can't get over how well this one was kept in a prior life. We even retained the factory carpet mats, owner's manuals, and the OEM optional chrome door sills are highly collectible on their own! Aside from some inoperable power folding mirrors, this cabin is nearly perfect!

You can't go wrong with a stout reliable Honda drivetrain, and this B20B is no different. Better yet, it's nearly identical to our USDM models so parts availability shan't be a concern. Ours is fresh off a recent service and cranks over swiftly thanks to a new 12v battery. Typical of most 25 year old cars, some oil leaks were to be addressed, and we installed a new valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket to keep the lubricant from our oil and filter service internal. This 2.0 has no issues zipping up to highway speeds and the manual gearbox makes it a fun affair overall. We installed a new front right torque mount to eliminate drivetrain slack, and new shocks and springs all the way around make the right comfortable for all. New bushings were installed in the control arms and trailing arms, and we mounted fresh rubber at all four corners. The new Yokohamas look good, ride even better, and should deliver plenty of grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!
