The Hilux Surf is our best-selling import, and this 1998 is a doozie. Finished in a new coat of Peak Blue Metallic (KY/M7469) this sporty and stylish SUV is fresh off a recent service and offered with a mere 93k verified and documented miles. Aside from a few light dings associated with normal use, the paint is in good condition and this rig is set off by refinished OEM alloys wrapped in 32" Falkens, rear privacy tint, and a subtle OEM spoiler. Capable, collectible, easy to service, and practical, it's easy to see why these N185s fly off the shelves. For those looking for a family hauler, weekend adventure mobile, or year-round daily driver this SSR-V is your Japanese Classic. 

The interior is packed full of electric equipment and safety items. It's also spacious and has room for five full-size adults. Plenty of headroom can be found as you enter the cabin and the stylized blue and black confetti upholstery steals the show. The seats lack any major rips, stains, or tears and match the exterior aesthetic perfectly. The rear seats can be folded forward to create a flat loading floor and also recline! The driver has a commanding view of the road as this tall truck sits atop traffic. A tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support allow anyone behind the wheel to find the ideal driving position. Dual SRS airbags are afforded to those riding up front and are standard equipment. The dash lacks any cracking or fading and is in good shape although we did want to note some lifting in front of the gauge cluster at the base of the windshield. Thankfully you won't notice it from within the cabin as it's largely hidden from view. Within arms reach is a simple-to-use automatic climate control system. It is able to blast piping hot heat or cold A/C depending on what's required by those within the cabin. The audio system below sadly is not currently functional, but that is a simple enough fix with a USDM replacement. Power windows, door locks, and mirrors all work in typical Toyota fashion and make daily use more enjoyable. Even the rear window powers down to provide your furry friend with some natural ventilation. The leather door cards are a fancy upgrade and the headliner and carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major damage. 

Just like US 4Runners this hauler is powered by the reliable 3RZ-FE. This makes finding parts and service options a snap and these Surfs are lauded for their low cost of ownership. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the four-banger whirrs to life care of a new 12v battery and stays topped up on lubricant thanks to a new valve cover gasket. A new engine air filter was installed by one of our trained techs while it was up on the lift and the new unit works to maximize fuel economy and power. Linked to a smooth-shifting automatic, torque can be sent to the rear wheels or all four based on the driver's preference. If you want to trundle along the beach or encounter some snow, a low-gear 4WD setting is on standby. The Hilux gets up to highway speeds with ease and can cruise comfortably thanks to brand-new rear shocks. Its long wheels base and predictable suspension are delightful for those looking to daily drive. The ABS brakes add some reassurance for those living in snowy climates and the brakes stop this midsize truck down with ease thanks to new front brake pads. The wheels are all wrapped in brand new grippy 32" Falken all-terrain rubber. They look mean but most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. We even aligned this rig for good measure.
