It's hard to imagine another mid 90's hatchback more iconic than Honda's EK Civic. Tossable, frugal to operate, and easy to service, examples such as this 1997 EK2 make for killer daily drivers, track toys, or even weekend show queens! Sporting a fuel-sipping 1.3l four-banger linked to a 5-speed gearbox, our Electron Blue (B95P) EK2 is as good of an example as any. Rocking OEM rainguards and tasteful OEM Type R Integra alloys, the exterior is enough to make any Honda enthusiast do a double-take. Up close, you won't find more than a few expected defects on the body as well, and it's worth noting a prior replaced hood in Japan, but the 64k verified and documented miles on the clock only sweetens the deal. Discerning enthusiasts will agree, this desirable EK is a great bang for your buck, and a true Japanese Classic.

Compared to our stateside offerings, the Japanese Market interior feels a bit more inspired than what we're typically used to. The factory seats are well bolstered and trimmed in a stylish patterned charcoal cloth, Fortunately, this one was clearly cared for in a prior life as the seats have resisted any serious rips, stains, or holes to note aside from some light separation on the driver's seat bolster. The same level of quality extends to the dash, where the grey vinyl is defect-free. As expected from any daily-use vehicle, we've primed the climate control with ice-cold A/C. The adjacent Kenwood audio modernizes the cabin a bit and doesn't sound too shabby either. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors are all in good operation and make the drive more accessible for anyone looking to use this one daily. The carpets, headliner, and door cards are in good nick, and this one even has a nifty Honda Access storage bin mounted in place of the map lights for you to store your sunnies. Additionally, the previous owner retained the factory carpet mats, another clear sign this one was well cared for in a prior life!

Honda made the right choice installing the D13B as standard equipment in this chassis. High in fuel economy and fun factor, this peppy 1.3l is easy to maintain, and our trained technicians have already given this one a once-over to prime it for the road ahead. A new 12v battery was installed in-house, which allowed us to properly check the alternator. We replaced all 3 serpentine belts with fresh units, and a new valve cover gasket and distributor o-ring were installed. A fresh oil and filter service to keep this one sealed up against any unwanted leaks of lubricant. Compared to its bigger DOHC VTEC bretheren, the 1.3l doesn't feel all that anemic, as it still zips up to highway speeds without issue and can hold its own in more demanding driving situations as well. The manual gearbox allows you full command over the engine's powerband, and shifts are smooth with no grinds or pop outs to be found. The factory suspension is near silent, soaking up road imperfections with ease and we've replaced the front left inner and outer tie rod to get the steering in compliance for the road ahead. New rotors help the brakes bite hard when called upon, and we've wrapped all four wheels in fresh Falken rubber, perfect for delivering grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!
