Exterior Overview
People movers in Japan are way more upmarket than our domestic options. This 1998 features two massive sunroofs, surefooted 4WD, and a giant cabin filled with premium materials. With electric amenities galore, a few upgrades, and some decent safety equipment, the interior leaves little to be desired. This HiAce is also a looker, adorned with an OEM rear spoiler, chrome grille garnish, refinished alloy wheels, OEM rainguards, and some subtle privacy tint. Finished in White Pearl (047) over Silver, the paint is in good shape aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Best of all, this hauler is powered by a trusty 2.7L inline-four that was sold here in the US, so parts and service are a snap. Offered with only 86k verified and documented miles on the clock, this terrific Toyota is barely broken in. Ideal as a daily driver, kid hauler, cool company marketing vehicle, or weekend campsite companion, this eight-seat Japanese Classic is an affordable and accessible vehicle option that you won’t want to miss out on!

Interior Overview
The cabin is cavernous and nicely equipped. Highlights include the tan cloth seats, which can be adjusted in several ways to maximize cabin usage. The material is also soft to the touch and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The carpets and door cards are in above-average shape, too. This HiAce includes the optional swiveling front captain’s chairs, which can face rearward to create a lounge-like experience. The middle seats also swivel, too, and the rear can slid fore and aft or be removed completely. Additionally, all three rows can folded flat and combined into a sleeping setup. This is especially sweet when you can sleep beneath the stars as this van includes a massive panoramic rear moonroof. It can be fully retracted for an open-air experience, and when closed, lets tons of natural light into the cockpit so it seems even more expansive. A manual front sunroof can also be tilted up to provide a light breeze through the interior. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. Dual SRS airbags are standard, and the large frontal crash structure will add some peace of mind if you happen to be safety conscious. For those who plan to daily drive, a Clarion audio upgrade can provide a soundtrack and includes an integrated backup camera. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion making daily use more enjoyable. Even the sliding side door soft closes when left ajar, preventing your battery from draining.

Mechanical Overview
The mechanicals are reliable and stout. The 3RZ-FE is an incredible engine, and is chain driven, which will save the new owner on a costly belt service. The 2.7L springs to life care of a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. To keep the onboard electronics charged one of our trained techs has replaced the old alternator with a new one. The 2.7L is linked to a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox. Power is fed to both axles care of Toyota’s trusty Full-Time 4WD system. Acceleration is peppy about town and sustained highway cruising is effortless. The suspension is soft and can handle the rigors of daily use and abuse. It insulates the cabin against rough pavement and few squeaks or rattles filter into the cabin. The long wheelbase also pays dividends for high-speed stability. The ABS brakes feel confident and slow down this van with ease. The power steering is light and on point and grip is handled by four new Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires. The new rubber quiets road noise and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. Turn key and ready to roll, this practical performer does everything well, and is beloved for its capability and low cost of ownership.
