Toyota's Celsior is a true engineering marvel, and probably one of the best designed vehicles we carry here at the dealership! Created as an alternative to luxury European sedans twice as expensive, these Celsiors are smooth, deadly silent, and outrageously reliable. Finished in Diamond White Pearl (051), the exterior of this 1998 UCF21 is accented by 18" Manaray Sport alloys. Save for a few paint chips and dings in the paint and a small chip in the right side mirror, the premium build quality has held up well, and the 73k verified and documented miles on the clock do a lot to drive that statement home. For those in the market for a killer transporter, daily commuter, or future show car stunner, this luxury Japanese classic truly checks all the boxes!
The interior is clad in premium leather upholstery and is just about one of the most well equipped cabins we sell. Featuring a laundry list of power amenities, quality materials, and accessible features, the Celsior's cabin has something for everyone and is a great place to stay on road trips and quick jaunts around town. The heated seats have resisted the past couple of decades with only a few crinkles and wear marks and both driver and passenger benefit from power buckets up front. For additional comfort, the seatbelts power adjust and dual front and side SRS airbags are present to keep you safe in any worst case scenarios. The center stack is trimmed in real woodgrain accents and features an easy to use multifunction touch screen display. It seamlessly integrates audio and dual zone automatic climate control, and we ensured the A/C was blowing cold and the heat was piping hot. If you opt to switch the unit off for some more natural airflow, all four windows power down automatically, as does a power moonroof. The power locks and "sonic" folding mirrors do too, which heat up rapidly to shake the frost off on chilly winter mornings. The rear bench serves up oodles of space and the trunk has an impressive capacity for cargo as well! The remaining interior materials are in good nick, from the matching leather door cards to the headliner and plush carpeting beneath. That's not to say the cabin is perfect, as we did want to note the steering column no longer electronically adjusts, nor does the OEM rear curtain. We even retained the factory carpet mats, and the original literature as an indicator this one was well cared for in a prior life.
The Celsior's chassis is legendary in its own right, but the 1UZ-FE under the bonnet is the real icon here! Better yet, we've gone through the legwork of performing a comprehensive recent service, including the ever labor intensive timing belt and water pump replacement! Other standard maintenance included a new thermostat, spark plugs across the board, and a fresh oil and filter service. With the maintenance performed she cranks right over, care of a new 12v battery, and settles into that signature vibration-free idle these Celsiors are known for. We even took care of a new engine air filter and fuel filter to keep any pesky contaminants out of this 4.0. Refreshed with VVT-i capability, this revised 1UZ zips up to highway speeds with haste and the redesigned 5 speed automatic gearbox pays dividends when maintaining comfortable highway cruising speeds. To shore up the drivetrain a bit, both front caster arm bushings were replaced alongside the front lower ball joints. The factory air suspension rides right as rain and keeps the cabin dead silent when flying over rougher terrain. It even has the factory radar adaptive cruise control for those on a long road trip. The steering is feather light and this slab is super easy to park. Further aiding traction, comfort, and ride quality, we wrapped the alloys in fresh Falken rubber, sure to deliver plenty of good grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!
