The Japanese have always built innovative people movers. This 1997 Granvia is a killer overall value, with its luxurious cabin, reliable turbodiesel engine, and surefooted FullTime 4WD. Finished in a glorious Alphard White over Yellow Silver Metallic (2CH), this hip hauler is set off by OEM rainguards, a stylish factory rear spoiler, and freshly powdercoated Bridgestone 15" wheels. Aside from a few light scuffs, dings, and chips this eight-seater is in good nick and comes fresh off a recent service. Offered with a measly 93k verified and documented miles, this Toyota has tons of life left in it and is barely broken in! Perfect for active families, adventurous campers, or someone who needs to transport some precious cargo, this is a certified Japanese Classic!

The cabin is filled with expensive materials, tons of options, and even more space. Unlike cheap, bargain bin stateside minivan interiors, the Japanese invested in comfort. The seats for instance are highly cushioned and soft to the touch. The multicolored cloth lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and the accommodations are ideal for long road trips. Entry to the rear passenger cabin is seamless thanks to a large sliding side door. The door soft closes, so if left ajar, it powers shut ensuring so that you aren't left stranded by a flat battery. The middle row swivels 180 degrees and also reclines. When facing forward, second-row occupants can retract the integrated foot ottomans mounted low on the driver and passenger seat backs. Above, a massive power panoramic sunroof lets in tons of natural light and ventilation and this feature is loved by campers wanting to sleep under the starry skies. Not to fret as the front occupants aren't left out to dry. Dual SRS airbags are standard for those wanting some extra peace of mind and storage options are aplenty. A massive center glovebox stows the factory manual, and the captain's chairs include folding armrests. Additionally, a collapsible center console table includes extra cup holders to supplement the ones that pull out from the center stack. Automatic digital dual-zone climate control works like a charm and heat and cold A/C can be mixed through the passenger cell. The OEM audio works well and provides a soundtrack capable of drowning out the kids. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows are all functional and make daily driving stress-free. The carpets and headliner and door cards have resisted major wear and tear over the years and overall this cabin condition is above average shape overall. Even the OEM carpet mats are included in the purchase!

Similar to the legendary HiAce, this Granvia features a longer wheelbase for a more premium ride, and a few more standard safety features, too. Propelled by the same bulletproof 1KZ-TE this powerplant is easy to service, powerful, and cheap on fuel. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the four-banger churns to life care of a new 12v battery. To ensure its seamless operation, a new fuel filter and engine air filter were installed while it was in our shop. When we tested the alternator we saw some hairline cracks in the serpentine belts, so we changed those out, too. A coolant flush was also performed, which is recommended every four years, and lastly, the coolant system was pressure tested for good measure. The 3.0L is connected to a stout automatic gearbox that makes decent use of the prodigious low-end torque produced by the 1K. Power is put to the ground care of a FullTime 4WD system. Acceleration is impressive for a van and sustained highway cruising is effortless. The soft suspension and long wheelbase insulate the cabin against potholes small and large alike. Refreshed with new ball joints, this transporter has passed Virginia state safety inspection with flying colors. The ABS brakes are responsive and the power steering is light yet on point. A fresh alignment prolongs the life of the four brand new Falken all season tires. They will provide tens of thousands of miles of grip for a good long while to come and quiet down to road noise noticeably.
