Oozing style and tons of machismo, the 70 series Prado is an old-school Japanese Classic. This simple and sturdy 4x4 is capable, reliable, and unlike anything on the road today. This 1996 is one hell of a rig, and stands tall with its Dark Emerald Green over Flaxen Mica (26Z) two-tone paint. Aside from a few light scuffs, chips, and dings the body is in good shape and this rig is set off by a set of aftermarket alloys, a 2" lift, and a set of OEM rainguards. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scratches the paint is in fine shape and this Land Cruiser is fresh off a recent service and is offered with a mere 147k verified and documented miles on the clock. Perfect for year-round daily use, and an ideal candidate for a dedicated overlander, this terrific Toyota is turn key and ready to roll!

The cabin is in good shape, and includes loads of space for family, friends, and cargo. The upright windscreen promotes top-tier outward visibility and the headroom is cavernous. Most of these Prados have heavily cracked dashboards, but somehow, this one has escaped that fate. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position, and power-adjustable hip support works like a charm on said seat. Power mirrors, door locks, and windows make daily use more enjoyable and this Land Cruiser even includes functional air conditioning. A modern Pioneer touchscreen headunit supplements the turbodiesel soundtrack and sufficiently drowns out the kids, too. Even US FM frequencies are on hand! The upholstery is in above-average shape and the seats lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can tumble forward to create a flat loading surface and maximize the cargo area. The headliner looks nearly new and the carpets and door cards have withstood the past quarter century without sustaining major abuse. Overall, this interior is about as good as any 70 we have seen in recent memory, and we feel the new owner will agree.

Still produced to this day, the Land Cruiser Prado owes its longevity to a few factors. This body-on-frame SUV is simple, yet sturdy. The ladder chassis can withstand loads of use and abuse. The 1KZ-TE engine is a gem as well. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the three-liter churns to life care of two brand new batteries we installed as soon as it got in our shop. Like all of our diesels, the fuel filter was replaced and the 1K feels healthy as a horse and pulls strong to redline. The automatic is great for those who live in the city and sustained highway cruising is better than the manual as it runs at lower RPM. It shifts properly and sends power through a selective transfercase. While RWD is best for acceleration and fuel economy, 4WD is available for tackling tough terrain. Upgraded in Japan this unit features manual hub locks and a low range for the nastiest of driving situations. The ride was refreshed heavily and is way more premium feeling than the average 70. That is because one of our trained techs replaced all the shocks with new Ironman 4x4 units. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light. The alloys have all been freshly wrapped in new Yokohama rubber at each corner. We then performed an alignment. The new tires reduce road noise and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come. That's not to say everything is perfect as we wanted to note the rear locker in inoperable. Still, this thing has a low range 4WD and is a beast off the beaten path!
