R33 sedans are less common than their coupe brethren and are incredibly underrated in our opinion. Scoop up this Japanese Classic and believe the hype!

Exterior Overview

The Skyline may just be the most storied platform we offer here at the dealership, and with two extra doors and room for five, models like this R33 GTS25-t are a surefire bet, with extra utility for daily duty! Prized for its powerful turbocharged I6, slick five-speed gearbox, and superior handling, this 1997 Series 2 is a well-kept example, offered with an impressive 92k verified and documented miles. Finished in Sonic Silver Metallic (KR4), the paint is in good shape, and unlike most 25 year old vehicles, only a few scratches and nicks are present in the paintwork. The facelifted cosmetics remain exactly as Nissan intended, and are set off by a factory rear spoiler and Kosei Seneca alloys. This spacious, fast, and fun four-door is fresh off a recent service and is turn-key ready. Suitable for daily duty or weekend canyon carving, this is a Japanese Classic that’s easy to justify adding to the fleet.

Interior Overview

The R33’s interior is a highlight of the chassis, and most enthusiasts unanimously agree it far surpassed the 32 that preceded it. Key improvements included additional legroom for both front and rear occupants, redesigned switchgear, and increased safety, with the inclusion of dual SRS airbags. The materials were given a bit of a refresh too, and the sweeping dash frames an accessible center stack, which has digital automatic climate control and OEM audio on standby. For seasonal cruising, cold A/C or hot heat can kick on at a moment’s notice, and if you prefer to listen to the great outdoors, all four power windows work as advertised. Further assisting daily use, the electric locks and side mirrors work well too, which power fold to assist tighter parking scenarios. A tilt adjustable steering column gives ample real estate behind the wheel, and the factory cloth seats are accommodating for drivers of all shapes and sizes. The upholstery is in decent shape overall, if you can see past some separation on the driver’s bolster, and the remaining materials are in good shape, from the headliner to the carpets beneath. The rear seat can squeeze in a few additional passengers if needed, and we have no burning critiques about this cabin, save for an inoperable radio display.

Mechanical Overview

The RB25DET under the bonnet is a lovely sight in stock form, delivering top-class response and smooth driving dynamics when cruising the interstate. Ours is turn-key, and fresh off a recent service by our trained technicians. This firebreathing mill is delightfully reserved and it’s easy to trace this Skyline’s roots as a touring car. A fresh oil and filter service keeps the inline six well lubricated, and we replaced the engine air filter for a bit of a tune up. The 2.5T is linked to a smooth shifting manual gearbox, which was swapped in at some point in Japan. The 5 speed really makes the best use of the RB’s powerband and shoots power to the rear wheels with haste. We also performed a transmission drain and fill so the next American owner can drive worry-free. A bit of drivetrain rehab was performed too. We replaced both front caster arms, and bolstered the steering system with new inner and outer tie rods up front, and a new inner HICAS arm on the right rear. A four wheel alignment was also performed to spec here at the shop to make the most of the new maintenance and prolong tire life. Speaking of which, the rubber is brand new, and chock full of traction and comfort for the road ahead. R33 sedans are less common than their coupe brethren and are incredibly underrated in our opinion. Scoop up this Japanese Classic and believe the hype!
