Exterior Overview
The Y33 Cima is more than meets the eye. It’s stylish, well-built, and safe, and performs more than adequately with its trusty turbo V6. Finished in White Pearl (QM2), this super sedan is a looker first and foremost, with OEM rainguards, an OEM front lip, stylish optional front grille, OEM rear spoiler, and 19″ Makina Isotta alloys completing the aesthetic. 25 years on the road have done little to alter this Y33’s appearance, aside from a few minor paint imperfections, and most of this can be attributed to the 90k miles on the clock, which we’ve verified and documented. Fresh off a recent service, and turn key ready to rock for daily driving, this Cima is a Japanese Classic transporter like no other!
Interior Overview
The interior is a high point of this model as this example has been incredibly maintained. It has extraordinary fit and finish, plenty of useful power amenities, and was cared for in a prior life based on the condition. Both driver and passenger benefit from power-adjustable front seats, which house SRS airbags on the sides in case of any on-road emergencies. There are airbags up front, too, and a tilt and telescoping steering column to help you get comfortable behind the wheel. The dash lacks any cracking, fading, or distortion. The digital auto climate control system delivers cool A/C and piping hot heat through the cabin, so that year-round use isn’t an issue. Below the OEM TV/Radio works like a charm and is ready to supplement your drive with a soundtrack. Power folding mirrors, keyless entry, power locks, and windows all work in typical Nissan fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The glove box is sizable and we have retained the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets for the American purchaser. The headliner is in good nick as are the carpets and door cards and there is little to complain about within the cabin. Spacious, ergonomic, and plush, this cockpit is about as good as it gets.
Mechanical Overview
Designed as a premium executive sedan, this balanced and refined rear-drive saloon car is smooth as butter! The engine matches the chassis perfectly and creates decent power while saving fuel over the optional V8. Fresh off an oil and filter service. the 3.0L springs to life care of a new 12 battery. It sounds throatier than stock due to a subtle FGK catback exhaust that also happens to free up a couple of ponies from the stable. To keep the electronics properly powered a new main drive belt was installed and provides a squeel-free start up when the key is turned. A new engine air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter work to maximize performance, and one of our trained techs replaced the old weary valve cover gaskets with new ones so that the oil level stays on full. The VQ makes impressive low-end torque and manages to move this heavyweight up to highway speeds with ease. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly and throws power to the rear axle, as it should in a proper luxury sedan. Standard ABS brakes confidently slow this large barge down to a stop, and the power steering is light and on point. New inner and outer tie rods and a fresh alignment promote proper tire wear, which will ensure the all season Dulops last for a good while to come. The suspension is soft and insulates the cabin nicely from the road and handles large and small potholes with confidence. New caster arms were installed for its Virginia state safety inspection, and the Nissan feels right as rain on the open road. This grand touring sedan gobbles up highway mileage with the best of them and would make for a wonderful daily driver or long range, family lugging, road trip warrior! Just turn the key, set the cruise control, and enjoy a true Japanese Classic!
