1996 Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-G
The third-generation Toyota Hilux Surf is one of the most sought-after SUVs. The SSR-G trim is offered with a ton of options straight from the factory, on top of being spacious, reliable, and efficient. Painted sometime in Japan it was changed from Stellar Blue (8L1) to a One-Off Black, the exterior of this 1996 Hilux is in great condition with the normal dings and scuffs associated with normal use. Making the exterior pop is the privacy tint on the windows, the OEM Toyota rain guards, spare tire carrier, and the 15" Berg wheels wrapped in new tires. Another neat feature of this Hilux is the power under-mirror found in the spoiler. Being offered with only 162K miles, the intercooled 4 cylinder turbo diesel is another major reason this vehicle is preferred, as it was offered with an OEM fully functional hood scoop to allow as much air into the top-mounted intercooler as possible. This SUV is perfect for a weekend cruiser with family and friends, or even for daily use.
Inside the very large and comfortable cabin, the seats are upholstered in a gray soft-to-the-touch cloth along with the headliner and carpet, all of which are lacking any major rips, tears, or stains. The door cards are also in great condition, having the same colored upholstery added into them, and showing little to no sign of rips or cracks. Along with the vehicle are some of the OEM mats in multicolor which are also in great condition. Making rides much more comfortable are all the power amenities this vehicle comes with. In the front of the cabin, the driver has use of the majority of things like power locks, power windows, and power mirrors. The vehicle also has the retractable power mirror switch but sadly they are not functioning properly along with the tachometer. In the center of the dash is the Pioneer Carrozzeria head unit, even though the radio function doesn't work stateside, the CD option is available. Other power features also include the Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension switch that allows you to change suspension ride between normal and hard, located to the left of the e-brake, and on the right side is the electronically controlled transmission switch, and the rear under mirror switch. Keeping the interior of the cabin cool or warm is the automatic climate control in the front, but the rear passengers also have use of the rear climate controls. Storage is considerably substantial as there is no third row in this model, and if the amount of space still isn't enough the rear seats do fold down allowing for extra room.
Fresh off an oil and filter service, and new serpentine belts installed by our technicians, this 1KZ-TE 3.0L Intercooled Turbo Diesel is turn-key ready and waiting to hit the roads! This diesel version Hilux does better with mpg's than its gas powered brother and has quick acceleration for its size. Paired well with a selective 4WD transmission and center locker, light off-road trails are effortless. Switching between the different settings for the center locker is done smoothly without any hesitation, as well as setting the 4WD option with just the push of a button. Capable of lasting a lifetime, the 1KZ is known for its reliability and efficiency. This Hilux is very well rounded when it comes to driving, having no issue getting up to merging speeds on the highway, giving a smooth ride around city streets, and even capable of taking on light off-road action for the adventurer type. Helping out with steering are the new front right inner and outer tie rods that were replaced by our shop. The new tires allow for maximum traction on the pavement yet lack any noise when driving at high or low speeds. Power steering on this vehicle is comfortably light and sturdy, while the braking power is reliable and lacks any hesitation. Ready to roll off the lot with its next owner this third-generation Hilux Surf is truly worthy of being stamped a Japanese Classic.
