It's hard to have more 4WD fun than behind the wheel of a Suzuki Jimny. Built to withstand loads of use and abuse, and exceptionally easy to own and maintain, these compact fourbies are all the rage, and our 1996 Jimny Sierra is one cherry example. Finished in Pearl Red (0FT) with one-off black accents on the roof, hood, and fender flares, the cosmetics look the part and a front brushguard with dual driving lamps, OEM rainguards, and a tasteful rear tire carrier do a lot to aid the tough guy aesthetic. The paint shows a few dings and fade spots here and there but on a 28 year old truck this Jimny is really no worse for the wear. Better yet, the 107k miles on the clock are verified and documented which should make you feel good about purchasing this rig! An ideal campsite crawler, around town hauler, or car meet standout, say hello to your new favorite Japanese Classic!
Suzuki knew what they were doing in the 90's. Their products were utilitarian in design, yet built well and still loaded with plenty of creature comforts. To keep things simple, the windows, mirrors, and locks all adjust manually, and the driver still reaps the rewards of cold A/C, hot heat, and clear Kenwood audio. The seats are built well too, and are trimmed in a durable patterned cloth. The dash has resisted any cracks or serious fading over the years, and the rest of the materials show well from the patterned cloth door cards to the headliner and carpet beneath. The driver even gains an upgraded Italvolanti steering wheel that feels great when piloting this Jimny down the trails. Protecting the floor from unwanted spills and stains, factory carpet mats are in great shape and present throughout the entire cabin. If you aren't kicking around with additional passengers in the rear, the seats also fold forward to accommodate extra cargo. This cabin is simple in design but chock full of useful equipment. It's evident it was cared for in a prior life and it's ready to get the same treatment stateside.
The G13B under the bonnet is a great engine for many reasons. It's easy to service, frugal on fuel, and it was offered in some stateside vehicles making parts availability and maintenance a snap! Ours is fresh off an oil and filter service and heartily springs to life care of a new 12v battery. We addressed a few pesky leaks of lubricant, and after a new oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and distributor o-ring she was ready for a lengthy road test! New spark plugs were dropped in to aid ignition, and this peppy 1.3l has no issues reaching higher speeds! The enthusiast's pick, a 5 speed manual gearbox is easy to command gear changes through, and we performed fresh fluid changes in the transmission, transfer case, and rear differential to get the drivetrain in compliance. We also changed the output seals at the rear of the transfer case and transmission for good measure. Both front hubs were also freshly rebuilt with new bearings and seals, and the suspension was pampered with all new trailing arm bushings in the rear. This Jimny is a delight to take off the beaten path, and a real deal selective transfercase allows you to slip into 4WD and low gearing with ease. The brakes stop on a dime and the steering is feather light too! Dunlop tires are mounted on all four corners, ride smooth, and have plenty of tread for the road ahead. These Jimnys are fan favorites here at the dealership, and it only takes one drive to find out why!
