****** This vehicle is being sold as a running and driving project with severe structural corrosion on the body and frame. The engine and drivetrain are in need of moderate reconditioning (oil leaks, etc). This vehicle will not pass VA state inspection and as such you must bring a trailer to pick up this Jimny or have it shipped to you. Additional photos of the corrosion can be seen at this link!

This spunky compact 4x4 is not for the faint of heart. A purpose-built, stick shift trail weapon, this 1996 is driven by a desirable 1.3l four banger and finished in a one-off Spartan green. Set off by LED headlamps, a prominent front light bar, aftermarket rainguards, and matte black steelies, the exterior looks the part, although we wanted to note heavy corrosion at the base of the rockers and quarter panels and frame. As such, we're wholesaling this lovely unit to the public, and with 101k verified miles on the ticker this Jimny is a real bargain! Yokohama mud terrains fill out the flared wheel wells nicely, and we've checked the drivetrain over to make sure this Jimny is safe and ready to explore. A lovely price tag on one of Japan's coolest compacts, this is one terrific entry level Japanese Classic 4x4!

The interior is utilitarian in design and still packed with a ton of good amenities for daily driving. The highlight of the cabin has to be the black suede Rennsport racing seats. The upholstery looks nearly new, and it complements the grey vinyl accents on the dash and door cards well. A wooden MOMO steering wheel replaces the flimsy factory unit, and the center stack frames an easy to use climate control system with ice cold A/C and an upgraded headunit with MP3 capability. The sound quality is decent overall, although we must note the display intermittently flashes. Following the keep it simple ethos, manual windows, locks, and mirrors are easy to adjust. In lieu of the factory rear bench, the rear seats have been removed to create a flat loading floor, perfect for keeping your camping gear and luggage in the back. The headliner and carpets are tidy, and, save for a few wear marks on the touch points and inoperable heat, it's in impressive condition for being 25 years young.

The G13B under the bonnet fires right up and is a treat to own, drive, and maintain. This frugal 1.3l sips fuel and is fresh off an oil and filter service. The battery is full of charge and helps this four banger spring to life, and we'd describe the acceleration as peppy. We did want to note a couple of oil leaks that should be addressed upon new ownership, namely from the distributor and oil pan, and the truck produces some blue smoke on startup and under heavy acceleration. We also wanted to point out a leak at the transmission output seal. The 5 speed gearbox does a swell job at climbing through the gears, and power is sent to a selective transfercase, where 4WD high and low are available for trips off the beaten path. The front hubs are seeping a bit of grease and would benefit from a rebuild too. The wheel and tire package does not lend itself to higher speed stability, but the Jimny can cruise around town if needed. The suspension is compliant over larger road imperfections although it could benefit from new swaybar bushings in the front. This unit has a lot of potential and is a hoot to drive. Snag it before it's too late!
