The Hilux Surf is an honest SUV. Reliable, practical, and inexpensive to service, this year-round ready rig would make for a wonderful daily driver or cool weekend cruiser. This 1996 is finished is a classic Desert Dune Metallic. Aside from a few light dings, scrapes, and chips the paint is in good nick, and this SSR-X is set off by a factory bashbar, OEM rainguards, privacy tint and refinished 16" alloys shod with 31" Falken all-terrain rubber. Featuring the same hearty four-cylinder engine available in the US, this 4x4 is fresh off a recent service and is turn-key ready to roll. Boasting only 97k verified and documented miles on the clock, this Toyota has logged a fraction of the miles that most stateside 4Runners. Affordable, stylish, and cooler than the other side of the pillow, this Japanese Classic is the real deal!

The cabin is spacious, ergonomic, and nicely optioned. Automatic climate control works like a charm and a new A/C compressor keeps things chilly during the summer months. The view of the road ahead is clear and unobstructed. The dashboard houses standard dual SRS airbags and lacks any cracking or fading. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position. Adjustable lumbar support is optional and equipped in this example. Power windows, an electronic moonroof, and power back glass can be utilized to increase airflow through the cabin and work like a charm. To make daily use more enjoyable power locks and mirrors work as advertised. A Kenwood audio upgrade can be utilized to source a soundtrack to add to your commute and it looks great. To keep an eye on the exterior condition and direction of travel a factory Field Monitor sits adjacent to the map light and the Moon Mist colored cloth is in good condition and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The rear bench can tumble forward to create a flat loading surface and maximize cargo room. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have resisted major abuse over the years, and even the owner's manuals and maintenance booklets are included in the purchase.

When considering cost of ownership, the most expensive maintenance item is typically a timing belt service. Well, the good news is that the 3RZ-FE is a chain-driven four-banger, so you're good to go! The 2.7L churns to life care of a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. A new valve cover gasket will ensure that every drop of lubrication stays within the 3RZ and we also repaired the oil pump seal and distributor o-ring. Thermal management is handled by a new radiator and thermostat. The automatic transmission shifts like a dream and power can be sent to the rear axle or both depending on the driver's preference. For sticky situations with low traction or loose surfaces, a low-range 4WD can also be utilized. Acceleration is decent and merging up to highway speeds is stress-free. Reeling in the Hilux from freeway speeds in not an issue, and the ABS braking system benefits from new pads and rotors up front. The alloys are all wrapped in new 31" Falken rubber. They reduce road noise, look great, and will provide tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip for a long time to come.
