The Honda Civic is a cultural and automotive icon. It's largely responsible for Honda's current-day success, and the brand's image as one of the best automotive manufacturers in the world. Known for top-notch reliability, this sporty SiR has been cared for over the years, sporting a spacious and well-equipped cabin to complement its bulletproof drivetrain. This 1996 EK4 is in wonderful overall shape, finished in Vogue Silver Metallic (NH-853M). Adorned with tinted rainguards and subtle 15"five-spoke alloys, the body is in good nick aside from some minor dings and scratches. The punchy B16A makes plenty of power for a fun, daily driver and will also return some decent fuel economy. Notable repairs in Japan include a new hood, right fender, and core support. Recently serviced, this clean hatch is offered with a mere 54k verified and documented miles. For those who value one of Honda's most timeless designs, this Japanese Classic will surely not disappoint!

The cabin is a pleasant surprise compared to the average, run of the mill JDM economy car. Although the interior is optioned as Black, it's anything but basic and even includes some saucy stylistic choices. The upholstery is eye-catching, with its red and purple textured charcoal cloth. Soft to the touch and comfortable, the seats lack any major rips, stains, or tears.  The view of the road ahead is clear and the little hatch has plenty of side glass and little if any blind spots. The dash is in good shape and lacks any cracking or distortion. A simple to use digital automatic climate control system is standard and blows cold A/C for the remaining hot days of this summer. Adjacent to it is a newer Kenwood headunit that supports USB and iPhone integration. It works flawlessly and is a subtle but helpful cabin upgrade. Power windows, locks, and electric folding mirrors all work as advertised and make daily use super convenient, The headliner, carpets, and door cards all look equally good and have resisted major wear over the years. We even found the OEM cargo cover still sitting in the back when the car arrived stateside, and those are normally missing. Even the owner's manuals and some service records are still on hand and were happy to include them with the purchase.

Honda builds fabulous interiors but the drivetrains are legendary. Honda's relentless focus on durability and efficiency was on full display during the nineties. They even made some sporty designs and the SiR is certainly one of those. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 1.6L starts up promptly thanks to the new 12v battery we have installed. The VTEC enhanced mill puts plenty of power to the front wheels, fed through a trusty automatic gearbox. Shifts occur seamlessly and the EK easily gets up to highway speeds without cause for concern. The handling is great as well, and the FWD platform feels composed overall. The power steering is light and communicative and the factory suspension is composed. The brakes stop this lightweight ride down quickly, and the tires are brand new at all four corners to maximize grip. They will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and reduced the ride harshness over the old set noticeably.
