Stock #6175Most American SUV buyers are usually well-informed prior to their purchase. Used body-on-frame trucks command a lot of money in the States, even with higher miles. The market for the 4Runner is a great example, and because this model is reliable and capable, consumers will pay a pretty penny. It seems to us that a Hilux Surf provides much more value, and this 1996 SSR-G ticks a lot of boxes. Easy to maintain, as it shares a gasoline V6 with N185s on our shores, this Desert Dune (1A5) over Black five-seater is fresh off a recent service. Its exterior is in good nick too, aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs. Set off by an OEM spoiler, black refinished alloy wheels, and factory spare tire swingarm, this Toyota is one heck of a looker! Even better, at only 131k verified and documented miles, this turn-key rig has logged a fraction of the clicks we see on your run-of-the-mill US 4Runner. Affordable, tough, and handsome, the Hilux Surf is our best-selling SUV and a time-tested Japanese Classic! The cabin is in good overall shape and was cared for overseas in Japan. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and houses dual SRS front airbags. Atop the windshield sits the OEM Field Monitor that displays outside conditions to those within the cabin. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support to find the most comfortable seating position. The upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is in good nick. Those out back have a 4-way reclinable bench and dedicated rear heat controls. For the whole car, automatic climate control can be utilized to pump in cold A/C and heat. If more natural ventilation is your preference, this Surf has power rear glass and electric windows. Power locks and functional power-folding mirrors also make daily use more enjoyable. To supplement the V6 soundtrack, a US compliant head unit has been installed and is fully functional. The headliner, and door cards have all withstood the past 25 years without major abuse. Aside from some light plastic wear and carpet staining, its hard to complain about the condition of this Yota, and it was clearly taken care of in Japan. This body-on-frame design is simple, durable, and easy to customize if that's your thing. Sharing mechanicals with our US trucks has many benefits as it relates to maintenance and repair too! This rig is fresh off an oil and filter service and turns over with the twist of the key thanks to a new 12v battery. To keep unwanted contaminants out of the motor, we replaced the fuel filter and installed six new spark plugs. One of our trained techs also replaced the valve cover gaskets to keep lubrication internal to the 5VZ-FE. To handle thermal management a new thermostat was installed, as was a new coolant temp sensor, and the Surf's powertrain is as good as gold now. Power is fed through a stout automatic transmission and can be sent to the rear, or all four, wheels. If traction is a problem locking center differential can be engaged as can a low-range 4WD setting. Acceleration is more than adequate and high-speed sustained cruising on the highway is never an issue for this platform. It slows down well, thanks to standard ABS brakes that feel confident while reeling this thing in. The suspension offers loads of ground clearance and is connected and predictable. New 31" Falkens handle the grip and a fresh alignment ensures this VZN185 goes right where you point it.   *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
