Durable, determined, and capable this turbo diesel Hilux Surf is the real deal. Nicely optioned, this recently serviced SSR-G model would make for a wonderful daily driver, useful adventure mobile, or cool weekend cruiser. Finished in Toyota's Stellar Blue over Gray two tone, this rig is set off by OEM rainguards, rear privacy tint, an aggressive factory rear spoiler and refinished factory alloy wheels. Aside from a few light dings, chips and scuffs this KZN185 is no worse for the wear and offered with a mere 140k verified and documented miles. Collectible, easy to service, and fun to drive these trusty 4x4 Japanese Classics are the best of the best!
Inside the cabin space is abundant and there are plenty of electric features and amenities. There are also a few upgrades, both factory and aftermarket. The upgraded Eclipse audio system adds a bit of modernity to the cabin and can pipe in the tunes to drown out your passengers. Other highlights include the power sunroof which works like a charm, as does the OEM field monitor to help you assess outside conditions. For those who plan to daily drive the factory optioned power windows, power locks, and power-folding mirrors work as advertised and make the daily commute convenient. Even the rear window can roll down at the push of a button for a true beach cruiser experience. The seats are comfortable and lack any major rips, stains or tears. The factory Moon Mist colored cloth is durable too and the driver even receives adjustable lumbar support and a tilt-adjustable steering column. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have held up wonderfully over the past 25 years as this truck seems to have been well cared for during it's life in Japan.
The body-on-frame design is shared with our US 4Runners so sourcing parts and modifications are a snap. The most requested and best-performing Hilux Surf engine, the 1KZ-TE is the major difference compared to the stateside gassers, and this one has it. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L cranks to life care of two new 12v batteries. The four-banger runs flawlessly thanks to a new fuel filter and new engine air filter. The automatic transmission makes traffic or trails easy to handle, and power is fed to all or all four wheels or just the rear two depending on the driver's transfer case selection. Acceleration is impressive and throttling stoplight to stoplight is a blast thanks to all that down-low torque. If a beach outing is planned a center locking differential can be deployed as can low range 4WD. The suspension offers loads of clearance and is predictable over less than ideal surfaces. The standard ABS brakes bite down with confidence and the steering is light and on point. To make sure this truck goes where its pointed one of our trained techs has replaced the left front inner and outer tie rods as well as the steering rack bushings. Lastly a brand new set of 31" all terrain Falken tires were mounted and balanced at all four corners. Not only do they quiet down the ride, but they look great and will provide tens of thousands of miles of grip for years to come.
