1996 HiAce Adventure Van

Stock#5189The allure of exploring the great unknown is something intrinsic to many Americans. Why not be able to tour this great land of ours in a stylish, refined, and dependable 4WD Toyota Van. This 1996 HiAce is packed full of power amenities and is propelled by a torquey 1KZ-TE turbodiesel. Striking in its appearance, this SuperCustom has been refinished in a one-off Arctic White and is in good shape aside from a few minor blemishes. Offered with a mere 131k verified and documented miles, this capable eight-seater is fresh off a recent service and has been legally imported here stateside. If you desire an adventure van that is known for a low cost of ownership and upscale cabin this stunning and unique Japanese Classic is surely the ticket. The cabin is roomy, well equipped, and is in good overall condition. The cab-over design lends itself to premium visibility and maximum use of space. The dash itself is in good shape lacking any cracking or distortion. The headroom is impressive and the front passengers get their own dedicated sunroof which can be manually tilted up for improved ventilation. The driver can control the automatic climate system easily and the A/C blows cold. The dated factory audio system has been replaced with a stylish and modern Clarion headunit. The sound quality is decent if you want to fire up some tunes for a road trip. The glovebox and center console offers additional storage and even the owner's manuals are still present! Power windows and locks are standard and work as advertised. For tight trails and city parking, the power side mirrors can electrically fold in creating a slimmer profile. The cognac-colored cloth used for the seats is still soft to the touch and lacks any major rips or tears. We did want to note some light staining but then again this thing is 25 years old. Behind the front seats is where the magic happens as they say. Dual-zone climate control and a swiveling second-row make camping a breeze. The seats can even be folded into a pseudo bed for those who want to enjoy some rest. Our favorite feature is the massive powered panoramic sunroof located above the middle row. With it fully opened, it creates a true open-air experience. The rear row even has an electric tilt sunroof so they don't feel left out. Rear privacy tint keeps prying eyes off your precious cargo and offers some relief from the damaging rays of the run. The carpets and headliner are clean and have been well cared for. The side door opens wide for easy loading and even includes a soft close feature so that it doesn't stay open and drain the battery. The rear tailgate lifts to six feet high and the room behind the removable rear bench is big enough for a few suitcases. As much as we gush over the interior the mechanicals are just as brilliant. The mid-mounted 3.0L turbo diesel four-banger is fresh off an oil and filter service. She starts up promptly thanks to a new 12v  battery installed by our shop. Torque is sent to all four wheels through a full-time 4WD system and an automatic gearbox. Shifts occur seamlessly and sustained highway driving is comfortable. The suspension is wonderful at sorting out the bumps and can handle the abuses of daily use while delivering impressive ground clearance. We have given it a refresh that includes new front left and right tie rods and an alignment. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. The wheels are all wrapped in new, grippy Falken all-terrain rubber at all four corners. These new tires will last for years to come and will deliver year-round grip regardless of the road surface. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB complaint first.
