The hype behind the Delica is real, and thats because this isn't your average hauler. Frankly, under the skin, this 1995 is more closely related to a truck than the typical passenger van. Starting with the grunty 2.8L turbodiesel and finishing with the selective 4WD transfer case, this seven-seater can traverse some tricky terrain while passengers hunker down in comfort. Finished in green over gray two-tone, the body is in good shape other than some scuffs, dings, and dents associated with normal use. offed with a mere 82K verified miles, this freshly serviced and legally imported adventure van demands to be pressed into service and is a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is in good shape and has plenty of functional power options. Beyond some light carpet staining, it's hard to knock the cockpit. The vehicle was obviously cared for and even includes the factory owners' manuals from Japan. Power windows, door locks, and electric folding mirrors all work properly. OEM rain guards look good and reduce in-cabin turbulence with the windows down. Dual-zone A/C works as it should and keeps those behind the driver and passenger cool. The factory audio works properly, and the speaker clarity isn't half bad for a vehicle of this age. The cloth seats are supremely comfortable on long distanced. Bother rear rows can slide fore and aft and the middle row even swivel 180 degrees. The cloth is clean and lacks any major imperfections such as rips, holes, or tears; and the upholstery is still soft to the touch. Best of all, twin ottomans pop out front two seats to provide for a first-class middle row experience.

Under the stubby little hood sits a punchy 2.8L turbodiesel. The 4M40 as it was designated is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up prompt thanks to a newly installed 12V battery. Mated to an automatic gearbox the driver can choose whether they want to utilize the 4WD or prefer 2WD for fuel economy. One of the most impressive features regards the selective transfercase, which can be switched between the desired drive setting while at speeds of up to 62mph. The gearbox shifts as it should and is geared properly for highway use here in the states. The long-wheelbase gives a tremendous amount of stability at highway speeds and the brakes and steering feel good for a vehicle of this age. The wheels all have fresh rubber mounted by one of our trained technicians. They should last for thousands of miles to come and deliver premium year-round grip.

The long-bodied Exceed is one hell of a rig. As a 4WD hauler is a righteous van is highly desirable. It performs capably, is inexpensive to own, and turns some heads to boot!
