With the new millennium shortly approaching, many car manufacturers were looking for inspiration in 1995. Futuristic styling, crazy technology, and loads of powered gimmicky features were being plopped into all sorts of JDM vehicles, but not this one. When Toyota dreamed up this platform in the early 1980s, these Prados flew off the shelves. So naturally, Toyota had no interest in ruining a good thing! Finished in a striking Tiger Eye over Black two-tone, this Prado is set off by a refinished set of OEM J95 alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and a 2" lift. Aside from some light dings and imperfections, the paint is in good shape and this recently serviced rig boasts a mere 161k verified and documented miles. Reliable enough to be daily driven, and capable enough to be offloaded with its factory rear locker, these practical and collectible Toyotas are versatile SUVs. Stylish, surefooted, and simple to service, this Prado SX is a Japanese Classic through and through.

The cabin is done in a simple yet ergonomic style. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as the driver sits far above traffic. There are some dash imperfections to note, such as a half-dollar-sized chip in the plastic, but a dash mat would obscure that nicely. The driver benefits from electric lumbar support and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel to find the ideal driving position. Power windows, door locks, and electric side mirrors all function and make daily use more enjoyable. If you are worried about the summer ahead, A/C is equipped, and if you prefer more natural ventilation, this Prado includes the optional electric retractable sunroof option.  An Eclipse audio upgrade modernizes the interior and supplements the turbodiesel soundtrack if you want to crank some tunes. The highlight of the cabin has to be the special blue textured cloth upholstery. It extends back to the optional third row and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. It also is mirrored in the door cards which look decent aside from two small screw holes on the driver's door. The carpets and headliner are in fair shape and overall it's clear this Land Cruiser was cared for in a prior life.

The simple and sturdy body on frame platform is a good reason for the longevity these rigs can achieve. The powerplant is an absolute gem as well, the 1KZ-TE. The 3.0L churns to life care of two new 12v batteries and is fresh off an oil and filter service. To give the four-banger diesel a new lease on life with a bevy of preventative maintenance and repair services have been performed by our trained technicians. A new engine air filter and new fuel filter were taken care of, and new accessory belts were installed. The timing belt and water pump service are the most expensive service these things typically need, and we took care of both items so the new owner can save some money down the road. A new valve cover gasket was installed by one of our trained techs as well, and now the 2992cc mill stays topped up on lubricant. It is linked to a smooth shifting automatic transmission and selective transfercase. Low 4WD and a rear differential locker makes this special Cruiser more capable than most, and the off-road die-hards look specifically for this option when shopping these trucks. With the 1KZ running right as rain we then shifted our focus to the driveline and suspension. New Ironman shocks were installed at all four corners and new trailing arm bushings were chucked in for good measure. The ride quality is now above average compared to a run-of-the-mill J78, and this truck is predictable when trundling over large and small potholes alike. New brake pads and rotors assist this heavyweight in slowing down and all the wheels are wrapped in new 32" all-terrain tires at all four corners.
