Toyota's 80 series is considered by some to be the last "real" Land Cruiser. A true purpose-built machine without the bells and whistles of late-model Lexus based designs. Our triple-locked 1994 FZJ80 is great at getting the job done, and with only 104k verified/documented miles on the clock this example is likely to outlast its next owner if taken care of. The exterior checks all the boxes for the discerning off-road enthusiast. Large, BFGoodrich M/T tires on 16" wheels, a 2" lift, LED tail lamps, and OEM rainguards give this one the tough guy aesthetic aspiring overlanders yearn for. Polished off in a one-off Gravity Black, everything looks right on this exterior, save for a couple of expected age-related paint chips and some fine white overspray on the alloys. Overland junkies, Toyota enthusiasts, and outdoorsy types will agree, the Land Cruiser 80 is a Japanese Classic that does it all.

While these trucks earned their stripes for their looks and capability, we think the interior is worth an honorable mention as well. Trimmed in durable materials, the soft-touch suede upholstery shows well, with only some light pilling present from normal day-to-day use. Even the headliner and carpet are in good nick. The dash has fallen victim to typical cracks and other UV damage, but a sleek carpeted dash mat has obscured the defects and looks great alongside the rest of the interior. The lower dash trim is intuitively designed and houses Panasonic audio, which unfortunately has given up the ghost. Directly below lies a fully functional automatic climate control unit, with ice-cold A/C and hot heat available at a moment's notice. Linked directly to the climate control system is the nifty factory cool box, complete with an integrated ice maker which functions better than you'd expect. All four power windows are in good operation, and a power moonroof slides fore and aft should you prefer some extra natural ventilation in the cabin. Power locks and power mirrors follow suit and work in tandem to create a more accessible driving experience for all. It also has electric folding mirrors which do operate, but no longer power fold.  The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column, and the factory wheel has been replaced with a sleeker woodgrain MOMO unit. Overall this Cruiser's cabin is in good nick and was cared for in a prior life.

Underpinned by the durable 1FZ-FE, this stout, body-on-frame truck is nearly identical to our stateside cruisers underneath, making both parts acquisition and servicing a cinch! Better yet, our trained technicians have had this one up on the lift for a thorough check-in procedure, priming this one for the road ahead. In any engine, lubrication is important, and we've installed a new oil pump, resealed the oil pan, and performed a fresh oil and filter service to ensure smooth operation after the fact. She cranks over swiftly care of a new 12v battery, and acceleration is impressive given the truck's robust stance. Shifts through the automatic transmission are smooth, and it's comfortable and capable of sustained highway speeds. The factory triple lockers work wonders on loose surfaces and can be easily engaged at the twist of a dial. We've done a fair amount to shore up the drivetrain on this one as well. We rebuilt the right front hub, replaced the front panhard bushings, and installed new front shocks to boot. With the maintenance performed the ride is now soft and compliant, ready for whatever loose surfaces you plan on encountering. To slow this bodacious beast down, we've replaced the brake pads and rotors on all four corners. The brakes engage without hesitation, and the BFGoodrich rubber grips the road confidently and has plenty of life left in it! Better yet, we've even given this one a fresh alignment, sure to keep this one tracking straight as an arrow for miles and miles to come!
