1995 Hilux Surf SSR-X
Punchy, trusty, and determined, this Hilux Surf is one heck of a JDM truck. Finished in a stately Evergreen Pearl/Gray two-tone (751), this 1995 is set off by a set of OEM rainguards, refinished factory alloys, factory rear swing arm, and privacy tint. Aside from a few light scuffs, dings, and chips associated with normal use, the paint is in good nick and this recently serviced rig is offered with a mere 116k verified and documented miles. Powered by a bulletproof 3.0L turbodiesel and equipped with a factory locking center differential this Surf has the stones to get you where you need to go, even if the weather refuses to comply. This SSR-X is also decent on pavement and would make for a killer daily driver, weekend cruiser, or 4x4 adventure mobile. Reliable, collectible, and fun this Japanese Classic is one for the ages.
The cabin is in above-average shape and offers tons of space, safety features, and amenities. Dual SRS front airbags are standard for those riding up front, and the driver benefits from adjustable lumbar support and a tilt adjustable steering wheel. Power windows, door locks, and electric mirrors all function as they should, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack includes a functional OEM TV/Radio and a simple-to-use climate control system. The heat is nice to have on these last remaining cold mornings of the year, and the air conditioning is cold for the summer months ahead. If you prefer natural ventilation, the rear glass also powers down to let in a light breeze. The upholstery is trimmed in a gray durable cloth. The seats lack any major rips, stains, or tears and have been cared for in Japan. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have also resisted major abuse. The lucky new owner will even receive the factory-fitted carpet mats to protect the Hilux against future spills and stains.
The sturdy, body on frame platform is a good reason why so many Surfs are still around today. The powerplant is equally good, and this 1KZ-TE turbo diesel is fresh off an oil and filter service. Two new 12v batteries aid ignition and a new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants at bay. The 3.0L churns to life and sets into a confident idle. It is mated to a smooth-shifting automatic transmission. The selective transfer case allows the driver to choose between two and four-wheel drive and when the going gets tough there is no need to be worried. Low range can be engaged and additionally, a center locker deployed when necessary. The Hilux accelerates impressively well and is stable at highway speeds. To refresh the suspension new front shocks were installed by one of our trained techs. The platform now feels more predictable and handles large and small potholes alike without breaking a sweat. The standard ABS brakes feel confident and the power steering is light, yet on point. To finish our reconditioning, we installed new tires at all four corners. The new 31" Falkens not only look mean but will deliver tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip to come.
