The N130 Toyota Hilux Surf is a timeless design. The model harkens back to a time when durability, simplicity, and capability reigned supreme. This 1995 SSR-X Limited is a well-equipped and well cared for example, offered with a mere 105k verified and documented miles., Finished in a sleek Toyota Black (204), this five-seater is accented by a rare OEM brush guard and rear spoiler. Aside from some minor dings and chips associated with normal use, this recently serviced and legally imported SUV is road-ready and drives fantastic. If you want a truck that can handle some rough terrain and still manage to take the kids to school with some decent civility on the tarmac, this Japanese Classic is the ticket!

The cabin is in an above-average shape and is ergonomic and spacious. This example has a few upgrades including an updated Sanyo head unit and a functional power sunroof. Other niceties include electric windows, locks, and mirrors that all work as they should. The dashes do frequently crack on these but this one has managed to come out of Japan unscathed. It lacks and cracks or distortion and the view of the road ahead is clear and commanding. The seats are upholstered in a durable gray cloth. Unlike many of these we retail, the seats lack any major wear such as rips, stains, or tears. They are comfortable on long drives and the driver's side even includes lumbar support. The driver also gets an adjustable steering column and a set of cupholders that retract out of the dash to keep your libations at hand. The carpets, door cards, and headliner have no major damage to note and the rear seats fold flat to accommodate more cargo if necessary. The rear glass also powers down if you have a canine companion and the hatch lowers down into a tailgate. The standard automatic climate control is simple to use with large buttons that are easy to depress. We replaced the old seized compressor with a new one and performed a recharge on the a/c. It blows cool, not cold, so it is possible there is a small leak. Overall this is one of the nicest cabins we have seen in recent memory. It's clean and well-appointed but not perfect, and we think it would make for a wonderful commuter or daily driver. 

Under the skin, this brutish body-on-frame SUV is simple and engineered to last. Body on the frame, turbodiesel trucks have a reputation for lasting for a reason. This one is fresh off an oil and filter service and powered by Toyotas legendary 1KZ-TE. The 3.0L starts up quickly thanks to a new 12v battery and sets into a confident idle. A new engine air filter helps it to breathe better and return top-notch fuel economy. The engine also benefits from all new serpentine belts and a brand new alternator to keep the 12v charging system full of juice. The four-cylinder is connected to a selective transfer case, the driver can choose between rear-wheel drive or four. Low earing is available as well and the automatic gearbox shifts seamlessly. Acceleration is better than most trucks we see, and the Hilux has no problem getting up to highway speeds and deals well with sustained highway travel. The suspension can handle the rigors of daily abuse and the brakes are more than proficient at stopping this midsize rig. The factory alloy wheels are all wrapped in new all-terrain Falken rubber at all four corners. They look killer and will provide tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip. We even had our techs replace the spare tire as well.
