This 1994 SW20 is an affordable, mid-engine sports car that has a hint of exotic flair. Like many spicy Italian marques, this platform boasts striking looks and knife-edge handling. Finished in an eye-catching Tropical Blue (8B6) this turbo model is offered with a mere 87k verified miles on the chassis. The body is in good shape, sporting a set of 15" Hot Stuff alloys, and has a few minor fisheyes, chips, and dings to note. Notable repairs include a replaced left front fender, left door, and dent repair on the left rear quarter panel. Recently serviced, this punchy coupe is fun to drive, highly collectible, and a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is in better shape than most MR2s we see, and it's obvious the car was cared for in Japan. The cabin has fewer squeaks and rattles at high speeds than the average MR2 and the coupe body style (no T-Tops) helps to eliminate wind noise. The dash is in good nick and doesn't have any cracking or major damage to note. All the controls are at hand and this ride has functional electric locks, windows, and mirrors. The headliner is clean and the door cards have survived the past 25 years without major issues. The blue and gray seats are soft to the touch and wonderfully supportive. The driver's side has some bolster damage and minor holes in the seat bottom but besides that, they lack major damage otherwise. That's not to say the cabin is perfect as there are some missing trim pieces including the driver's side tweeter trim and the door handle insert. The ashtray is also missing and the head unit and turbo gauge no longer operate. On the positive side the climate control is easy to use and still blows cold A/C at the moment. Again, the cabin would be comfy for daily use and even includes the factory manuals in the glovebox for posterity.

Designed for balance, the SW20 is reliable, fast, and communicative. The 3S-GTE is one hell of an engine and is fresh off an oil and filter service. It turns over quickly thanks to a new 12v battery that should last for the next four to five years. The exhaust note is perfect and the powerplant is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox. Shifts are smooth and an HKS blow-off valve makes its presence known in between gear changes. Powering the rear wheels, the close ratio unit makes great use of the 2.0L powerband. Acceleration is impressive and the four-banger has a new set of spark plugs installed to ensure she is running tip-top. We also saw fit to replace the alternator stateside so that the battery maintains proper charge for the new owner. The valve cover gasket had developed a small leak so we replaced that while we were in there and installed a new engine air filter for good measure. The suspension is in good shape and can handle the abuses of daily driving with hardly a shrug. The steering is perfectly weighted and feels supremely communicative compared to today's EPS systems. The brakes feel confident and the wheels are all wrapped in new all-season tires. This beautiful MR2 is ready to put a smile on your face today!
