Fun, fast, and affordable. Most say you can't have all three, but Toyota's MR2 begs to differ. Pitting itself against German and Italian options exponentially more expensive, this 1994 "Revision 3" SW20 is a frugal midship monster that delivers on daily drives, weekend cruises, or the occasional track day. Finished in Black Pearl (202), the exterior remains bone stock, down to the OEM spoiler, front lip, and fog lights. There's some expected defects in the paint, and we wanted to note a prior replacement of the front left fender, boot lid, and right rear quarter in Japan. Overall, this coupe shows well as a whole and the 137k verified/documented miles on the clock are nothing for a trusty Toyota. A pseudo-exotic compact with reliability akin to your family's Camry, this MR2 is an undisputed Japanese Classic!

Comfortable, intuitively designed, and surprisingly spacious, the SW20's cabin excels in just about every facet. The seats are upholstered in a durable patterned cloth and have resisted most rips, stains, and tears that would normally accumulate over the years. The dash is in good nick, too and shows no cracking or fading to note. The center stack frames automatic climate control and Kenwood audio. For summer cruises, cold A/C is on tap and hot heat is on standby for the occasional winter drive. The driver benefits from a tilt adjustable steering column, and the factory wheel has been rewrapped to feel more comfortable in the palm overall. Both power windows work, as do the locks and power folding mirrors. There are plenty of cubbies and hidey holes to stash belongings, and the driver will certainly appreciate the cockpit-esque switchgear. Overall, the MR2's utilitarian yet capable interior hits the mark and delivers just about everything needed from a sport compact. Save for some steering wheel wear, there's almost nothing to complain about.

The 3S-GTE mounted midship is one of Toyota's stoutest 4 bangers and is the perfect mill to power this runabout. Lauded for its instantaneous power band and parts availability, we've taken care of all the tough maintenance to deliver a surefire turn-key experience for the next stateside owner. A new 12v battery handles ignition, and a new alternator was installed to keep it properly charged. Typically a lengthy job on these 3S', we've gone in and completed a full timing belt and water pump service, and replaced the oil pump, cam seals, and distributor o-ring while we had the motor out. A fresh oil and filter service was performed and a new valve cover gasket was installed to shore this 2.0 up against any unwanted leaks of lubricant. After a set of new spark plugs, she's healthy as a horse and zips up to redline without hesitation. A 5 speed manual box throws power at the rear wheels without a hitch or grind, and we tossed in a new clutch to keep the next owner covered for years to come. New ball joints were installed up front, as well as all new coilovers and it handles as you'd expect for a potent mid-engine sports car. Further delivering grip, handling, and comfort, two new Toyo tires were mounted up, a fresh alignment was performed, and this MR2 is ready for tens of thousands more miles to come!
