Exterior Overview
For the true SUV enthusiast, only a few makes and models are really on the table. A G-wagen or Defender might be in the mix, but there is no way they can match Toyota dependability. This 1994 Prado can do it all. It’s capable, reliable, spacious, and easy on the eyes. Finished in a classic Black (204), this rig is set off by a set off by a gloss black OEM grille and powdercoated OEM 15″ wheels wrapped in fresh Falken rubber. Aside from a few dings, chips, and scrapes, the paint is in fine shape, and this turbodiesel is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 111k verified and documented miles on the clock, this 4×4 is barely broken in. Ideal as a unique year-round family hauler, dedicated desert destroyer, or wicked weekend cruiser, this Japanese Classic is more than competent. Collectible, cool, and a blast to motor about, this lovable Land Cruiser won’t last long.

Interior Overview
The cabin is simple, yet has all the features required for daily use. The tall ride height and seating position allows everyone to see beyond traffic. Drivers of all sizes can find the ideal seating position thanks to a tilt adjustable steering column and electric lumbar support. The simple-to-use climate control system benefits from a new A/C belt and new A/C compressor. That way you know the summer ahead will be nice and cool, with piping hot heat on hand for the last few months of winter. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors all function and make daily use more enjoyable. Equipped with a prized third row, there is seating for eight. The rear jump seats can fold up and be stowed against the d-pillar and the middle row can slide forward to accommodate more cargo. The blue and gray upholstery is in good shape and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The headliner looks good, as do the door cards and aside from a few typical dash cracks and some light carpet staining, its clear this cabin was cared for in a former life overseas. It even has a modern Eclipse audio system to keep you jamming down the road!

Mechanical Overview
Simple, sturdy, and built to last, this body on frame beast is able to withstand loads of use and abuse. The same can be said for the engine, the 1KZ-TE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L churns to life courtesy of two new 12v batteries. To keep them charged, we chucked in a new alternator. A new fuel filter and engine air cleaner were installed to bolster the 3.0L performance, and we performed a coolant flush so that it maintains proper thermal management. We also installed new accessory belts so that all the on-board electronics stay properly powered. The 1K creates gobs of low-end grunt and is mated to a stout automatic gearbox. It shifts like a champ and is mated to a selectable transfercase. So the T-case works tip-top, we replaced both output seals. This Landy can be driven in rear wheel drive for best acceleration and fuel economy, and a low range is on hand to supplement the 4×4 should you need additional traction. When we rebuilt the hubs, we also added Aisin manual lockers, which are a hit for the off-road crowd. The Prado is a comfortable highway cruiser and the long wheelbase distributes bumps in the road nicely. For state inspection, we replaced the radius arm bushings. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light and easy to manipulate. For grip, we mounted and balanced four new Falken tires. They look mean, reduce road noise, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
