Exterior Overview
“SUV Tough, Car Easy.” That was Subaru’s slogan for the SF Forester. It makes sense, as the accessibility of an all-weather crossover made life easier for families on the go and adventurous types. If you had a need for speed, the 2000 STi is surely the ticket. Finished in a classic Royal Silver Metallic (792), this AWD terror is set off by OEM optional front bumper, side skirts, OEM rear bumper, OEM rainguards, an aggressive rear spoiler, privacy tint, and gold OEM BBS wheels. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good shape, and this fantastic Fozzy is freshly serviced and touts a meager 89k verified and documented miles on the ticker. Safe, reliable, and a blast to motor about, this do-it-all ride would make for a relentless rally crosser, dependable daily driver, or all-terrain weekend wonder. Practical, easy to service, and a delight to drive, this is the definition of a Japanese Classic.
Interior Overview
It surprises many folks that the cabin materials and build quality of many JDM Subarus are leagues above the competition. This example proves that, and if you want to take a gander inside, functional keyless entry gives you access. The dashboard is in good shape, lacks any cracking or fading, and includes an extra storage compartment on the passenger side. The driver enjoys a tilt-adjustable steering column, and the OEM MOMO steering wheel looks good and feels sporty in the palms of your hands. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows all make daily use more enjoyable and work like a charm. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach. The driver and passenger can easily adjust the digital automatic climate to their choosing, and the heat and A/C function as they should. Below, a Kenwood radio pumps in the tunes and supplements your commute nicely. The bespoke seats are trimmed in a unique black sport cloth. They are supportive and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The headliner is in good shape, as are the door cards, and the carpets have withstood the past quarter-century without sustaining major abuse. Even the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase.
Mechanical Overview
The EJ205 is a perfect pairing for this chassis. It makes good power and torque, and this one is fresh off an oil and filter service. It churns over promptly with the twist of the key, and a new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of the 2.0L. A new air cleaner was installed to maximize power, and the boxer is linked to a standard automatic gearbox. To keep everything tip-top, we resealed the transmission pan while it was up on the lift. It shifts like a champ and sends power to the ground through Subarus trademark symmetrical AWD layout. New front axles were installed to ensure every bit of grunt gets to the pavement. It sails up to highway speeds, and when you need to reel it in, new front brake pads and rotors, and new rear pads keep stopping distances short. One of our trained technicians performed a host of suspension work so that this thing would be turn key, ready from day one. New adjustable coilovers were installed to keep the fender gaps minimal, and a fresh alignment was dialed in courtesy of new inner and outer tie rods. New front lower control arms were installed, too, so that it could pass its VA state safety inspection. The power steering is nicely weighted and easy to articulate, and grip is handled by four new tires. Ready to hit the road for an immediate roadtrip, this trusty steed only needs a new American owner!
