It's no secret why this specific 1994 Hilux Surf is the holy grail of Surfs. That's right enthusiasts, a gutty 1KZ turbo diesel mated to a real manual gearbox. Finished in a classic Blue Gray Metallic (179) this rugged rig sports a newly fitted lift and is offered with only 150k verified and documented miles. Aside from a few nicks, chips, and dings from normal use the body and paint are in good shape and this mean-looking Surf rides on bronze Fuel Shock alloys with 32" BFGs. Recently serviced, this tough Toyota is reliable, gutty and highly collectible. As a weekend trail truck, daily driver, or overlanding beast this formidable SUV is a top-tier Japanese Classic and wont last long!

The interior is in above average shape, and even has a few fancy upgrades. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding and you can clearly see the roadway, as this tall truck rides far above most other vehicles. The dash is in good shape and lacks any cracking or distortion. The driver receives an adjustable steering column and lumbar support to attain ultimate comfort. Other electric equipment includes power windows, locks, and side mirrors which all work like a charm. The gray upholstery is in above average shape, and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The same can be said for the door cards and headliner. The climate control system is simple to use and features cold A/C for a summer camping trip and hot heat for this winter. A recessed set of factory cup holders unfurls from the center stack and a US compliant JVC headunit with integrated phone and Bluetooth is located directly below. The sound clarity is decent, but we prefer the turbo noises and one-off exhaust note from the rorty 3.0L. The rear occupants have access to independent rear heat and for adventurous types, the rear bench can be folded flat for a sleeping surface. For additional ventilation, the rear window rolls down with the click of a button, and is handy for canine companions. This Hilux was cared for in a prior life and you can really tell in person!

The body on frame platform is durable, robust and surprisingly fun to drive. That's largely due to the potent 1KZ-TE under the hood. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the four-banger turns over promptly with the turn of a key. The 3.0L sounds fantastic, and breathes a bit easier thanks to a custom 2.5" exhaust. A selective transfercase allows drivers to select between two and four-wheel drive. This truck accelerates quite well, and the stick shift gives the driver tons of control. Gear changes occur without a hitch or grind and said gearing is appropriate for sustained highway use. The brakes are confident and the steering is power-assisted. New steering stabilizer shock bushings help to keep this thing from wandering all over the road and one of our trained techs has replaced the front left axle. The 4 inch Rough Country lift adds a bit of ground clearance and a whole lot of curb appeal.

For the SUV enthusiast who wants the real deal, this is it, and it's been worth the wait. As a manual we hardly see them, but perhaps once or twice a year. Freshly serviced and state safety inspected, this KZN130 is a turn-key rig for the ages!
