Growing up in the '90s was great unless you were an American kid stuck in the back of a Ford Windstar. The vans offered on the other side the Pacific couldn't be more different from what we saw stateside. This 1994 HiAce Super Custom Limited has tons of room for a weekend in the mountains, and a massive list of power options and tech that would make it a delight to own. Finished in White/Gold Two-Tone (27W) this slab-sided people hauler is offered with a mere 98K verified miles. Sporting a set of 17" Work Euroline alloys, privacy tint, and OEM rain guards you'll find the body to be in great shape other than some minor dings, and chips attributed to normal use. Featuring touchscreen audio, a massive suite of sunroofs, and a reliable diesel engine, this Toyota has it all!

This HiAce is remarkable for how clean and well-appointed the interior is. There is so much to love when it comes to the power features such as a tilt column, locks, windows, and power-folding mirrors. The digital floating gauges look incredible and for nighttime visibility, a set of HID headlights illuminate the road ahead. Dual-zone air conditioning and heat work as they should and keep every occupant happy. If you prefer more natural ventilation, a massive center panoramic retractable sunroof unfurls all the way back to see the open heavens above. The front unit is a manual venting setup, and compliment the rear units for an extra breeze if needed. The OEM audio was ditched for a touchscreen Pioneer unit that sends tunes around the cabin. Extra cupholders are available on a dash-mounted parcel tray and said dash is in wonderful condition. The cognac-colored seats in all three rows are in the wonderful nick. The material is very soft and lacks and major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can slide and swivel, and can be laid flat to create a sleeping surface. The side door opens up wide for easy access to the rear rows and features an electric soft-close system to prevent it from being left ajar. Expect serious comfort on long cruises and day trips because that's what this stellar van does best. The second-row power controls for the glass roof no longer work, as does the vehicle intercom system, but once again this is a 26-year-old vehicle. Still, it's incredible the condition of this van, and even the original owner's manuals are still sitting in the glovebox!

The driveline is one for the ages. The 1KZ-TE 3.0L turbodiesel is known to one of Toyota's best designs ever. Helped by a newly installed 12V battery and benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service, the engine turns over with a twist of the key and sets into a steady idle. Acceleration is brisk and the four-banger has tons of low-end grunt. This motor was used all across the Toyota lineup for that exact reason. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission, that shifts as it should. TEMS adjustable suspension can adjust the firmness of the suspension on the fly, and the long-wheelbase reduces the feel of roadway imperfections. The brakes are grabby, while the power steering is light and never puts up a fight. The turning radius is impressive making parking a snap, and the aftermarket Work wheels all have brand new all-season tires mounted and balanced at all four corners. Regardless of the weather, they offer plenty of grip and quiet down the road noise.

Through and through, this HiAce Super Custom Limited is a Japanese Classic. Comfortable, reliable, efficient, and unique this Toyota is a do-it-all transporter that gets high marks for quality and style!
