**This Crown runs and drives but has cooling system issues and overheats after a few minutes of normal driving. It is unable to pass Virginia State Safety Inspection and we would highly recommend repairing the engine and drivetrain before driving long distances. It must be trailered off our lot.

The Crown is one of the longest standing nameplates in Toyota's long and storied history, which is surprising considering they were never for sale domestically until last year. Deemed a mechanic's special, this 1994 JZS141 is a good example of the Crowns of yore, and is offered up with a near-foolproof 1JZ drivetrain and 51k miles on the ticker. Finished in Black (202) and set off by OEM rainguards and aftermarket 17" alloys, the exterior is timeless and shows no glaring imperfections aside from some paint variations and minor fading throughout. Comfortable, easy to service, and fun to drive, this would make a killer daily transporter or road trip warrior once the proper repairs are made. You could say it's in the name, but we really believe this is the king of Japanese Classics!

Like the exterior, the interior is built with quality and style in mind, and the full slate of power amenities certainly doesn't hurt. The seats are upholstered in grey executive wool and have held up much better than any tired leather interior we saw in the states. The driver gains access to a tilt adjustable steering column and the seat is power adjustable for optimal comfort. Digital automatic climate control is easy to navigate and is able to be doled out separately for rearward passengers as well. The climate control works, although neither A/C nor heat are functioning currently. The adjacent OEM audio system has also given up the ghost, but these Japanese radios don't hit US FM frequencies anyways, giving ample room for a replacement. All four power windows operate as advertised, as do the locks and power folding side mirrors for any city dwellers. The rear bench is spacious, and the remaining soft touch materials are in good shape overall, down to the vinyl backing on the dash. The headliner is tidy, and the carpets have been protected by some plush OEM mats. We love the Crown for its ease of use and optimal comfort akin to a larger Lexus barge. Save for some broken dash vents and an inoperable fuel gauge, this cabin should be appealing to any future pilots and passengers.

It doesn't get any better than a JZ powered Toyota saloon, and the 1JZGE under the bonnet is a great unit when properly maintained. Advertised as a mechanics special, we've decided to forgo the full service on this unit although it does run and drive. A new 12v battery was installed to aid ignition and we changed the oil and filter, and the fuel filter too. We did want to note some cooling system issues with this Crown, and the radiator, heater core, and water pump were in too poor of shape to perform a proper road test. It misfires slightly at idle and we also wanted to note a seep from the transmission pan that we would recommend addressing. On the plus side, a nice aftermarket exhaust is on hand to bring out the JZ's signature sound. The suspension is comfortable and soaks up the bumps nicely, and there is some dry rot at the caster arm bushings. The power steering is light and easy to maneuver, and the brakes engage and stop well. All season tires are wrapped on all four corners and have plenty of life left for when you get this Crown road-ready!
