Always known for being an overachiever, the Rover Mini was built for 40 years and is one of the most iconic and loveable vehicles ever built. The now-famous two-box design featured low overhangs to maximize stability and interior room, a peppy transversely mounted four-cylinder, and world-class handling. This 1994 model features the larger 1275cc power plant, fuel injection, and a manual transmission. Finished in one of the most desirable colors, British Racing Green with a classic Pepper White contrasting roof the body is in good shape, aside from the normal dings, chips, and dents associated with normal use. This Mayfair edition comes with plenty of factory options and classy upgrades making it a blast to own and drive and is fresh off a recent service for those desiring a turn-key experience.

The interior of this Rover is largely similar to the early cars produced since 1959. While an A/C system, ventilated rear windows, and audio are standard on this 1994, these creature comforts were nonexistent early on in production. The dash is in good shape, devoid of any major imperfections such as cracking or discoloration. Factory floor mats are included and were used by the old owner to protect the carpet, to which they did their duty. The door cards and headliner match the gray cloth seats and are upholstered tightly. The seats themselves are soft to the touch and are comfortable for daily driving. The driver's bucket was replaced with a retro-style leather unit, and the cockpit accents also include a small, metal shift knob and wood grain steering wheel. Extra storage can be found in Mayfair specific door pockets located behind the front row. Manual windows and locks are one less thing the car break and the spartan interior allows one to focus on the road ahead. The simple gauges are easily read, and the odometer notes 26K miles, however, they were not verified prior to leaving Japan. The factory head unit has been upgraded to a Pioneer unit, which powers the speakers properly. It also has an auxiliary input so you can link it up to your iPhone or Android device.

The short, stubby bonnet is crammed with the last iteration of the 1275cc gasoline mill. Utilizing electronic fuel injection, cold starts are so much smoother and this little Rover delivers exceptional fuel economy. With a twist of a key, the water-cooled engine springs to life and sets into a constant idle without having to deal with a pesky choke. A new 12V battery should last the next owner for at least four additional years. A custom center-exit exhaust not only looks sweet but sounds throaty as well. A fresh oil and filter service ensures no scheduled maintenance is needed for another three thousand miles. Acceleration is brisk and the four-speed manual slots into every gear, and shifts as it should. A brand new clutch master cylinder replaces the old one and the pedal has a good feel. The hydroelastic suspension gives the car a firm ride, but the handling is still decent compared to modern vehicles. New upper and lower ball joints have been installed to remove any additional play in the suspension. Cornering is flat, and the steering is responsive, as it is unassisted, yet never feels too heavy. The brakes bite down hard, and the bantam-weight four-seater can stop on a dime. Grip comes from four brand new tires installed on the OEM 12" alloys. We even replaced the spare tire too!

Years newer than many European examples, EFI, and plenty more equipment, these Japanese Rovers are are savvy buy. The iconic styling, peppy engine, top tier handling makes this road-legal go-kart a blast to own and a certified Japanese Classic. Lots of people want a MINI, but seem to get confused and buy a bloated BMW. This one is the real deal, a genuine Rover, and once you drive it they don't compare. For the enthusiast who wants a lightweight, yet simple, adult size go-kart with room for four adults, a Classic MINI is tough to beat.
