The 16th R33-R to roll out of the IMPUL factory, our 1994 Skyline GTS is a standout sedan, sure to turn heads at Cars & Coffee or your local Nissan mega meet

Exterior Overview

The IMPUL R33-R is the closest thing you can get to a Japanese Shelby Mustang, and that’s no exaggeration. Designed by former Nissan Racing driver Kazuyoshi Hoshino, production on the R33-R was limited to 200 units, and boasted full interior and exterior restyling, and a couple of beneficial performance upgrades. The 16th R33-R to roll out of the IMPUL factory, our 1994 Skyline GTS is finished in Silver Metallic (KL0) and the factory 12 piece IMPUL aero shows well overall. Save for some light rock chips and paint defects, the FRP front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and unique rear spoiler do a lot to set off this sedan’s silhouette. Further increasing the aesthetic appeal, IMPUL rear fender arches and tail light covers add an air of exclusivity, and do a lot to polish off the exterior, and this sleek four door looks great rolling on 17″ six spoke IMPUL alloys. Featuring parts Skyline enthusiasts yearn for and a responsive driving experience from the turbo six, this R33-R is a standout sedan, sure to turn heads at Cars & Coffee or your local Nissan mega meet. In other words, This limited edition is nothing short of a true Japanese Classic!

Interior Overview

The exclusivity doesn’t just stop on the R33’s body, it extends far into the cockpit as well. Bespoke IMPUL sport seats are present in the front and rear, and are finished in a two tone cloth with perforated alcantara inserts. It’s evident that this Skyline was cared for in a prior life, as the seats have resisted any unwanted rips, stains, or bolster wear over the years as well. The dash is trimmed in a soft touch vinyl, and an IMPUL steering wheel and pedals benefit driver comfort as well. The center console plastics are in good shape, and this limited edition saloon is still easy to drive daily, as the digital automatic climate control works well and is ripe with cold A/C and hot heat. Adjacent to the HVAC, Panasonic touchscreen audio works like a charm and comes with some classical tunes preloaded to help you unwind on your commute. Power windows work well on all four corners, as do the locks and electric folding side mirrors. The rear bench is surprisingly spacious, and can fit a couple additional passengers easily, if you need to justify this purchase as a family vehicle. The headliner is neat and tidy, and the carpets are protected by some snazzy factory mats. If we were to scrutinize the interior at all, the shift knob shows a bit of wear and there’s a hole on the driver’s seat bottom. We were also unable to verify the odometer reading, as an aftermarket gauge cluster was fashioned by IMPUL. Other than that, this boutique cockpit really impresses!

Mechanical Overview

Leaving the factory with a naturally aspirated powerplant originally, this R33 is now equipped with a proper RB25DET, with plenty of performance modification and maintenance done to make enthusiastic driving a walk in the park. We installed a new 12v battery to aid ignition, and an oil and filter service was performed to keep the RB topped up on lubricant. The RB pleases in both auditory and physical response, thanks to an HKS front mount intercooler, Trust downpipe, and an IMPUL catback exhaust. A Greddy boost controller monitors your PSI’s and gives a hefty push to change this sleek saloon from mild to wild. Power is sent through a stout automatic gearbox, and sent swiftly to the rear wheels. It selects gears predictably and shifting is a smooth affair overall. Aftermarket coilovers are compliant over road imperfections and an IMPUL front strut tower brace reduces chassis flex in the twisties. The brakes were upgraded with GTS-T calipers up front and they stop on a dime. The factory six spokes are handsome, and wrapped in fresh Kumho rubber. Stylish, comfortable, and freshly aligned at our shop, they’ll keep your collector car glued to the pavement for tens of thousands of miles to come!
