This 1994 HiAce is a fan favorite model, packed to the gills with the amenities and space to make any stateside van enthusiast a believer. A massive sunroof suite and special lace seat covers are only just the beginning. Our rear-drive Super Custom model is nicely spec'd in a rarely seen Silver Taupe over Dark Rose (2AH) and stands out from nearly anything else on the road thanks to a snazzy graphics package. Sure there are some expected dings, chips, and scuffs from 29 years of Japanese use, but the body is clean and is accented by an OEM rear lollipop mirror, OEM rainguards, and 16" aftermarket alloys. The 133k verified and documented miles are even more enticing, as the trustworthy turbodiesel drivetrain is just getting broken in. Comfortable, reliable, unique, and downright fun to drive, this Japanese Classic HiAce is one heck of a hauler.
 
The interior is trimmed in a complementary cognac cloth that assumes an almost suede texture. The soft and supple upholstery is comfortable on long cruises and looks great. The 60/40 middle row can rotate a full 180 degrees for some extra camaraderie from your rear passengers, and both rear rows can fold fully flat into a makeshift sleeping surface should you choose to spend a night out under the stars. For those who enjoy a good view, a triple sunroof suite is at the ready. The front sunroof manually tilts up to funnel ventilation into the cabin, the middle panoramic moonroof is power retractable, and the rear glass can tilt at the press of a button. Additionally, the front power windows, mirrors, and locks are fully operational and work as advertised. The driver benefits from a tilt adjustable steering column for some extra comfort behind the wheel. Automatic climate control is at the ready, pumping out cold A/C or hot heat at a moment's notice, although the factory audio below has sadly given up the ghost. The dash is in fair shape, showing some slight defects from the previous removal of an accessory screen, and the seating surfaces are in good nick save for some slight driver's bolster wear. The headliner and carpets are tidy, and we've even retained the original owners manual and factory lace seat covers and curtains to preserve the history of this classic hauler.
 
The mid mounted 1KZ-TE is a formidable beast beneath the floor of this van. This turbo diesel terror is fresh off an oil and filter service and turn-key ready to rock. A new 12v battery is niftily tucked away in front of the middle row, and helps this one crank over the first time, every time. Idling is confident, and a fresh fuel filter keeps any pesky contaminants from making it into the engine. With the maintenance performed this one drives great on short around town jaunts or longer highway excursions. The turbo provides a sufficient grunt down low and propels this one up to interstate speeds with no issues. Shifts are smooth through the automatic transmission, and power is transferred back to the rear wheels accordingly. These rear-drive models tend to be a bit more responsive than their 4wd brethren, and the lighter curb weight aids in both acceleration and braking. The suspension is soft over larger road imperfections and the brakes stop on a dime. Even the steering is easy to maneuver, making this van feel like a compact hatchback in tight parking lots. Lastly, we've wrapped the alloys in fresh Falken rubber, delivering grip and comfort for tens of thousands of miles to come!
