The Toyota Land Cruiser is known globally as one of the most capable and reliable vehicles ever designed. Produced for nearly seven decades, the 78 series four-door trucks are amongst the most iconic ever built. Flush with factory lockers, a prolific 3.0L diesel, and room for five this 1993 Cruiser is in wonderful shape with only 135K verified miles. Lifted with a set of chrome alloys on oversized Falkens, the body is in good shape other than the normal dings, scuffs, and chips associated with daily use. Recently serviced and legally imported, this Prado is a certified Japanese Classic.

The cabin is particularly nice for something so rugged. Power amenities are all around, and the cabin is surprisingly comfortable. A tilt column sits behind a wood gain Momo steering wheel to bring a bit of elegance to the cabin. Power windows, locks, and even a panoramic sunroof work as they should, along with an upgraded Pioneer head unit that pipes tunes to the cabin. A/C and heat are standard, but if you prefer manual ventilation a set of tinted OEM rain guards reduces wind buffeting when the doors are closed. Both rows of seats are in good shape and trimmed in soft tan cloth with textured accents. Lacking any major rips, stains, or tears the cloth is nicely upholstered and in good nick. The headliner and carpets are clean and the door cards are tightly upholstered. One of the interior vents is broken, and there are some scuffs on the plastics, but as a whole, the interior is quite impressive. The cargo area is massive and features split barn doors for wide loading and a roof height above six feet!

Mechanically, this Prado is optioned with the most desirable drivetrain ever fashioned below the angular bodywork. Toyotas revered 1KZ-TE 3.0L four-banger feeds an automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. Benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service along with two new batteries, she turns over with a twist of the key into a constant idle. Acceleration is quite impressive compared to other less powerful models, and the gear ratio allows for comfortable highway cruising. The Pro-Comp shocks reinforce the ride, and the Prado tracks well and handles large bumps and road imperfections with confidence. When the going gets tough, locking differentials can be engaged to help furthermore with grip. The brakes and steering are power-assisted and capable and the new Falken Rubitrek all-terrain rubber has been mounted at all four corners on some chrome alloys.

The ultimate 78 walks the walk and talks the talk. Chocked full of features with the best engine and driveline equipped, this Prado is a serious Japanese Ute the likes of which we rarely see.
