1993 Land Cruiser FZJ80
Available for: $21,495
Toyota's Land Cruiser is a timeless marque, and models like this 1993 VX-Limited are fantastic examples of the rugged, body-on-frame warriors that spawned today's more luxury-oriented units. Underpinned by full time 4WD with triple locking differentials, and a big block I6, these Cruisers are optimized to handle anything from daily duty to crawls through the trails, tundra, and beyond. Finished in Dark Emerald Pearl (6M1) this 80 Series is offset by a large OEM optional brushguard with dual Bosch driving lamps, OEM rainguards, and a factory spare tire swingarm. Also uncharacteristic of trucks of this vintage, the 106k verified miles on the clock indicate this one has been seldom traveled in it's prior Japanese life. Durable, reliable, and built to stand the test of time, the 80 series is the definitive Japanese Classic SUV.
While designed to coddle passengers in a cabin chock full of premium materials, this 8 seat SUV handles daily duty in the 21st century quite well. Upholstered in a luxurious suede cloth, the front, middle and rear rows have resisted any serious defects outside of some expected staining and a tear in the driver's bolster, and the remaining materials in the door card inserts, headliner, and carpet beneath are in good nick as well. The grey vinyl dash is unobtrusive up front and provides optimum visibility. The dash materials are in above average shape overall and have resisted any unwanted cracks or UV distortion over the years. Nestled in the center stack, automatic climate control works like a charm, dishing out cold A/C and hot heat in both front and rear zones at a moments notice. Adjacent to the HVAC, upgraded Carrozzeria audio is also fully operable, and while you won't hit a full range of US FM frequencies the sound quality is decent overall. All four power windows slide up and down without resistance, and the power locks and power folding mirrors are in good operation as well. For fans of natural ventilation, moonroof controls are available adjacent to the OEM field monitor to funnel some fresh air in if needed. The middle and rear rows can squeeze in 6 additional passengers comfortably, and the third row can stow against the D-pillars if extra cargo space is a priority. Overall, the condition of the cabin's materials and operable equipment indicate this one was well cared for in a prior life, and aside from a non-functional OEM cool box, it's hard to find any huge gripes with this interior as a whole.
Under the bonnet, stateside enthusiasts will rejoice as the durable 1FZ-FE is the same near-bulletproof mill found in our US cruisers. Ours is fresh off a comprehensive service by our trained technicians and has a handful of preemptive maintenance done so you can enjoy this turn key truck from the jump! To seal you up against any unwanted leaks of lubricant, the rear main seal and oil pump gasket were replaced, and a fresh oil and filter service was performed to get you on track for the next 5000 km's. A new 12v battery was also installed to aid ignition, and we replaced the fuel filter to rid your petrol of any unwanted contaminants. With the maintenance performed, this one drives smoothly and can handle daily jaunts around town as easily as a longer highway road trip. The long wheelbase feels confident at higher speeds, and an automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels without issue. A must-have for off-road enthusiasts, this Cruiser features the factory triple locking differential option, and we installed new rear endlink bushings and new panhard bar bushings to keep the drivetrain in compliance. This prominent rig is easy to steer, park, and stop, and new Falken rubber was mounted on a set of freshly refinished factory alloys to ensure you won't come up short on grip when needed most!
