Toyota's 70 series Prado is beloved for its fan favorite styling, durable mechanicals, and overall ease of ownership. A simple rig, backed by a durable turbodiesel drivetrain, it's easy to see why these cruisers have captured the hearts of stateside enthusiasts looking for an unstoppable off-road warrior. Our 1993 boasts 150k miles and is finished in a one-off India Black. Accenting the exterior is subtle rear privacy tint, and a sleek set of 16" alloys shod in meaty Falken all-terrains. In accordance with the exterior, the interior features back-to-basics styling, easy-to-navigate amenities, and a handful of power amenities to make daily driving in the 21st century a breeze. The seats are trimmed in a plush patterned cloth. Fortunately, the last couple of decades have been kind to the materials as there's not much to complain about on the upholstery. The driver even has electric adjustable lumbar support, a perineum cooler vent, and a tilt-adjustable steering column to find the optimal driving position. Even the dash is still in good nick and has resisted most of the typical UV cracking and distortion typically seen on these 70 series. Positioned below is a more modern Panasonic audio system that plays clearly throughout the cabin, and the HVAC controls are easy to use and supply ice-cold A/C and hot heat at the twist of a dial. All four power windows work as advertised and the power locks and mirrors do as well. This Prado features a sought after third-row option, that can stow against the d-pillars if needed. The reclinable middle bench can also fold fully forward if you need to prioritize rearward space as well. The carpets and headliner show no major stains or sags, and overall it's evident the prior Japanese owner cared for this cockpit well as a whole.
Under the bonnet, Toyota's 1KZ-TE is a perfect mate for this durable, brutish chassis. A sturdy turbodiesel four banger that can turn half a million miles with ease, these engines are easy to service and offer a rewarding ownership experience no matter how you choose to drive the vehicle. A new fuel filter keeps any unwanted contaminants out of the diesel and with the maintenance performed this one shoots up to highway speeds with ease. The automatic transmission helps throw power down to the rear wheels, and 4WD can easily be engaged, with low gearing on hand should you need to escape from any less than desirable situations. It even has electric locking hubs! The rear differential was professionally rebuilt as well and new fluid was added in case an immediate road trip is planned. The suspension floats over rough pavement with ease and feels predictable overall.
