The Hilux is a perfect size to blend performance and cargo capacity. Rarely seen in this rare hue of Evergreen (751), the body of this five-seater is in good shape other than some minor dings, scuffs, and nicks associated with normal use. Offered with only 80K verified miles, this 1993 benefits from a slate of nice maintenance items, and includes full documentation of its legal importation. This truck is ideal for those who value an eye-catching, rugged 4X4 with a turbodiesel and decent power equipment. Best of all, this Surf is backed by Toyota's reputation for quality and high resale value.

The cabin is in good shape overall and much nicer than the average Hilux. It's obvious how well cared for the interior is, reflecting prior ownership. Starting at the top, the headliner is tight and taught, upholstered in a gray hue. The textured door cards match the seating surfaces, and both look wonderful. The front and rear seats are soft to the touch and upholstered in gray thatched cloth, lacking any major rips stains, or tears. They are comfy on long trips and are made of durable material. The dash is in good shape, lacking any cracking which is common on vehicles of this age. The ergonomics are surprisingly good, and the interior is anything but cluttered. The factory audio works nicely, as does the A/C and automatic climate system. Power equipment includes a one-touch driver window, locks, and mirrors. A signature feature of the model was its rear power window, that retracts with a press of a button. If you happen to prefer the wind in your hair, OEM rainguards keep the cabin relatively quiet and look good as well. The rear seats fold forward to create a bit more cargo area if necessary and the tailgate can be folded down for a makeshift seat, perfect for tailgating and camping alike!

Mechanically the Hilux Surf is a simple vehicle, and that could be a good part of the reason why they last so long. The body on frame platform may not be the most refined, but it's beefy and can hold up to some serious abuse. This SUV is powered by the most desirable engine optional there was, the 1KZ-TE. At 3.0L, this massive turbodiesel four-cylinder makes copious amounts of torque from right off idle. Benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service and a rebuilt starter, the I-4 turns over quickly with a twist of the key. She idles well, and a new serpentine belt has been installed. Acceleration is brisk and the automatic transmission shifts as it should. The driver has the option for 2WD or 4WD based on their preference, and the selective transfer case also has a setting for low gearing. The suspension feels good, and you can adjust the damping thanks to a switch mounted by the right of the wheel. The brakes are confident and slow the truck down faster than the larger Land Cruisers and Safaris which have heavier curb wights. Aftermarket JAOS Excel II alloys are all wrapped in new Falken all-terrain rubber that can handle gravel, sand, and snow. We have even replaced the spare tire with a matching Falken as well!

For those who follow the inventory regularly, you'll notice how rare a Green Hilux with a turbodiesel is. Well equipped and a blast to drive, you won't want to miss out on this Japanese Classic
