Perhaps one of the most exciting cars produced from the small island nation of Japan in 90's was the Toyota MR2. Coupled with Toyota's legendary reliability, this sleek mid-engine coupe offers a rewarding drive, great fuel economy, and low cost of ownership. Finished in one of the MR2's eye catching colors; Solar Yellow (567) makes it a real standout. Sitting on a set of pewter 16" LISO DX rolling stock and highlighting some upscale Euro-U aero, this example is a real showstopper. The body has been well preserved over the years, free of any notable dents or dings, and the sheen from the clear coat dances under the sunlight nicely.

The interior has received a few light upgrades, but nothing quite as impactful as the Recaro seating. Our 1992 model features these stylish OEM Kouki buckets with integrated mesh headrests that offer incredible lateral support through the twisties. The 90's thatched multicolored material dresses up the darker interior, and pair nicely with the overall aesthetic of the car. The door cards and carpeting are free of any stains or markings. The rest of the interior has been left unmodified and is in great shape. Most of our imports have dated head units, however, this vehicle features a newer Kenwood model, with integrated USB and auxiliary inputs. Behind the factory Momo wheel, all the controls are easily reachable and the gauges are all legible. Two Greddy gauges were mounted atop the dash to monitor the coolant temps and boost levels. The speakers function properly as well, but why would you want to listen to anything other than a high output turbo four cylinder sitting behind your head? While the cabin is snug, two removable T-tops bring in some natural light, and make the cockpit feel roomier. The power windows, locks, mirrors, are all functional. The air conditioning and heat are in fine working shape, as well. The low cowl, sloping glass, and optional cornering fog lamps, make for above average visibility during night or day.

Mechanically there have been several classy additions. Power comes from the mid mounted turbocharged, two liter, 3S-GTE. With the turn of a key, the revvy four banger fires to life. With only 61K verified miles, this little monster is just barely broken in. Acceleration is brisk, as the lightweight body sails up to speed without hesitation. The five speed manual rows through all forward speeds without a hitch or grind. This 1998cc makes all the right noises, compliments of a Departure stainless exhaust. The dual, polished mufflers emit a mellow bark, that isn't intrusive or annoying. GAB struts have been installed to freshen the suspension and give the mid-ship coupe a bit flatter corning feel. Although firm, the ride is sporty without feeling harsh. The MR2 also has enough clearance for daily driving if that is a concern. Power steering, a rare option, is functional and the car effortlessly turns into corners, with plenty of feedback. Grip comes from two new tires that have been mounted and balanced up front, to ensure the next owner has adequate all season traction. Lastly an oil service has been performed, so no routine maintenance will be needed for the next three thousand miles. The SW20 really is one of the best all around cars Japan offered. Light wight, powerful, and exceptionally well balanced make it an ideal candidate for your morning commute as it is tearing up the back roads.
