The Hilux is known for its legendary ruggedness. This 1993 Hilux Surf SSR-G has arrived stateside, and based on how this one looks, its only a short matter of time until its conquering American terrain. With only 110K original miles, and a bevy of rare factory options make this Hilux difficult to find. While completely capable off road the SSR-G model is the top of the line when it comes to the Hilux models. Starting with the exterior hue, finished in Prussian Red Pearl (25T) over Dark Grey Metallic and combining with Power Volk color matched alloys, this Hilux is simply stunning. The body is free of any major flaws, dents, or dings and the paint is impressive only showing minor imperfections from normal use. Naturally there are a few scratches, but well above average for a vehicle this age. The OEM optional rear wing also looks great and is a nice addition to finish out the rear. An OEM spare tire mount is located on the rear gate and all 5 33" all terrain tires are brand new. The chrome grill, bumpers, and mirrors are all in fantastic condition, with the addition of a beefy AIBA brush guard resting up front.

The interior in the SSR-G is one of the best features of the top model. Factory Recaro seats were standard in this model and are not only comfortable but also provide additional support to keep you firmly planted in the seats when the road disappears and things get a bit rocky. It's even more difficult to find these OEM Recaro seats in this type of condition with virtually no bolster wear, no rips, and only minor discoloration on the driver seat back. The rear seats receive the same Recaro treatment along with the door panel fabric inserts (Recaro) which also include factory tweeters. The carpet is in beautiful condition and it's obvious this beautiful rig hasn't seen much, if any, off road use. Privacy tint surrounds all the rear occupants, and reduced interior temps. Cup holders, OEM CD player, and cruise control all add to the suite of passenger-centric amenities not typically found in vehicles of this vintage. The dash is in great shape on this, free of any sun fading or cracking. The factory rain guards are also still present and standard on the SSR-G. The OEM sunroof is fully functional and does not leak, and it too is sporting a rain guard. Overall an extremely nice and particularly rare interior.

The North American market never received the venerable 1KZ-TE 3.0L diesel version on the Hilux Surf. While that was a real downside to the US models, the best power train option is equipped in this model, and can now be yours. To paraphrase the show Top Gear, this engine in indestructible. Known for its durability and low cost of ownership, it is paired with selectable 4WD and a convenient automatic transmission. The large four cylinder fires up quickly, compliments of two new 12V batteries installed by one of our trained technicians. Idle is as smooth as a huge four cylider can be, and the diesel clatter isn't invasive in the cabin. Acceleration is brisk throughout the mid range, and shifts are smooth albeit lackadaisical. The suspension does great at sorting out all the bumps, and the steering is light and easy to articulate. Naturally there is some additional road noise from the sizeable 33's but nothing you wouldn't already expect. The brakes also feel strong, and the midsize SUV comes to a stop without issue. As with all of our vehicles our trained technicians have thoroughly inspected this Hilux and all maintenance is up to date, with the next oil service not being needed for 3000 miles.

The capable, unique and reliable SUV is a timeless design. Its over engineered drivetrain, rare OEM options, and curb appeal make it a hit as a daily driver, or an off road icon. This turn-key Japanese Classic can be yours for $17,495
